Confidence, professionalism friendship, and self-love are four most significant topics which most nonfiction books explore, especially those which claim to be "self-help" books. Some books have tried to go beyond the atypical, while others have confined themselves in the same structure, and repeating the same set of ideas. Love Yourself lies on the blurred lines between the two groups. As far as theme is concerned, Love Yourself attempts at encouraging its readers to love themselves; and this effort is more subjective than practical. Love Yourself tries to appropriate a very personal touch (and tone too) to this taboo-fied idea of mental health. Irrespective of a person's age or experience or social background, every person deserves to be happy and loved. But the idea of being loved begins first from receiving it from others, and that starts from interactions and communication. However, this reception of love does have its limits. Taraji P Henson had once said in an award ceremony that you cannot give someone else the responsibility of your happiness, and it is very true. The first step to being loved starts with our own self. Love Yourself attempts to endorse this very idea nicely, but the execution is quite dull.
Personally, I did not find Love Yourself quite appealing, because it jots down the usual ideas on self-love and mental health. The book does not have anything new to share or bring forth to its readers. Also, the "encouraging tone" of the narration is just too overwhelmingly in certain parts of the book.
While the choice of theme is no doubt brilliant, I believe Love Yourself could have been much better than what it is. I convey my regards to the author for her future endeavours.
I firmly believe that nonfiction reads are so inspiring, motivating, will show you a new path through which you can achieve your dreams. This book is that kind of a book, still, with a little difference. From most of the books, we will get motivated by others' words, achievements,e.t.c, which are also inspiring. I agree. But here in this book, you, yes, you will inspire yourself.
This book talks about the author's journey, and at the same time, it also talks about the most important topic that we all should focus on: "Loving yourself" FIRST. This is a practical and theoretical book that will give us many insights to work on and live life more beautifully. The way it makes you feel fantastic when you are reading this book and turning the pages of it is just 😍
Obviously, the cover of the book is so beautiful ✨The title is appropriate to the context in the book. The writing is gorgeous cause it's Rakhi Kapoor(I'm gonna meet you one day! The fangirl in me is dying to meet you😌 I thought the starting 9 pages are a little slow. However, I have a lot of emotional attachment to the incidents she shared in the book. One should appreciate her for her guts to put out those traumatic incidents into the book. I feel the writing at the start is slow, but then I was wrong. Those incidents that the author talks about initially are so critical, which made her self love herself more and help us readers love ourselves.
A genuinely motivational, inspirational book for every reader out there, no matter you are a beginner nor an avid reader - Just read this book.
Author: Rakhi Kapoor
The title ' Love Yourself: Understand and Master the Art of not Giving a *uck ' of the book is extremely positive and motivating.
The cover image of the book is a simple graphic art of a lotus in a high state usually depicted in spirituality. The cover image perfectly suits the title.
Of late in this pandemic times, we have been hearing news from all around the world of people being panic, disturbed and threatening themselves mentally due to the loss of a job or loved ones for any reasons. There has been news also of deaths of famous people around the world which, like a coincidence, has disturbed many minds. During these times, some people have found various ways to keep themselves busy. But, at times we forget to think about ourselves, love ourselves and embrace ourselves.
This aspect of self-love is often ignored, and worries embrace us instead of positivity. Mostly women from every walk of love forget about themselves and take up the various roles they play. The thing called self - love is often mistaken with physical pleasure or selfishness. But, when really understood what magic self-love does, the confidence and the grace builds up like a mountain.
This same topic and thesis are very well explained in the book by the author, Rakhi Kapoor. With her own experiences explained, the book is written in easy language, and the contents which, when applied practically helps the individual - becomes a must-read and highly recommended
