4.0 out of 5 stars Engagaing and mysterious!
By Komal_reads on 10 November 2020
My friends is a sociopath is collection of 2 short stories depicts the tale of different murders where our protagonist Avhi Sarkar happenes to be the common thread during investigation. ⁣🕵️‍♂️⁣
⁣⁣
First story is named 'The Ants colony' where in an abandoned tent at faraway place Avhi Sarkar and his friend Avhi found a dead body covered with ants. ⁣🐜🐜🐜⁣
⁣⁣
So the conclusion I've drawn from my understanding is Avhi has kind of dual/split personality disorder where the second Avhi resides in his subconscious mind helps Avhi to investigate the murders.⁣🧠⁣
⁣⁣
And Ice Cream is a second story where group of 4 friends died mysteriously in Avhi's neighborhood where he investigates the case along with his another neighbour. 🍨 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Both the stories are quite interesting and kept me glued till the end. It is the end which left me wondering about lot of unanswered questions and I felt the ending somewhat incomplete. According to the blurb though, author has intended to end the stories that way. ⁣📝⁣
⁣⁣
Overall the writing is simple and engaging. Stories hold the sense of mystery till the end. Though at a places, I felt a little more finer editing was required to omit the errors. Apart from that and the ending, I overall enjoyed reading the book. 📖

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, creative, different, and unpredictable
By Salis Afaque on 23 November 2020
My Friend is a Sociopath is interesting, creative, different, and unpredictable. It is a collection of two thrilling short stories that take you on a roller-coaster ride of mysteries. This book is strange (in a great way), incredibly well written, and all-around surprising. The plot of the book is brilliant. If I am asked to describe this book in short, I would say - a mysterious delight. There are hints sprinkled throughout the stories that there is something suspicious going on. But it is very hard to predict what's coming next. Once you start reading this book you won't be able to put it down. It is short yet impactful, and that is what makes this book stand out from the crowd. Loved the main character and would highly recommend this book. Overall, if you love reading crime thrillers, My Friend Is A Sociopath should be on your reading list.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love the plot!
By Spellboundark on 9 November 2020
The book is divided into two parts namely, The Ant's Colony and Ice Cream -with three chapters in each of them. The story revolves around Avhi Sarkar and his best friends trying to solve an accidental mysterious case. Avhi is a very complex and moody character. He is dyed in the wool enthusiast and always trust the facts. He is eccentric, critical, and intelligent. His friends are ambivalent about Avhi's speculations.

The suspenseful opacity with an urgent first-person narrative that ranges a quick gripping to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the crime-solving part. The storyline is pretty much relatable to the real life. The story is engaged well with the twists and turns.

The ending was left very open-ended which was kinda infuriating. I also think the characters could have more personality outside of how they have been affected by their circumstances. They often lacked depth and connectivity to the incidents. Also, I had to suspend my disbelief in some parts.

The cover is attractive and the title is attention-grabbing. This book has a lot of drastic scene changes, is packed with a minor character, and is in no hurry to get where it’s going. I finished the whole book in one sitting. This is a fast-paced one and gripping throughout the end.

The author really did a great job of clasping the reader's attention. Writing a horror and thriller story is tough and a challenging one, this is a debut book from the author, and he really accomplished well with his story. I recommend this book to all crime lovers. My best wishes to the author!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read
By Aditi Mehta on 29 December 2020
'My friend is a Sociopath' is the collection of two short stories with each one unique in its way yet interconnected. Both the stories are delicious, twisted and witty thriller.

In both the stories, a man who has a brain of Sherlock solves two different murder mystery. Since the beginning of the book I was too engaged with intelligence of Avhi Sarkar, a bit of a dysfunctional yet clever young man who has all the qualities of detective. It's the Avhi character which is the heart of the book and keep you going even when the plot gets overwrought and confusing. The storyline seems more like something which is written in hurry to finish the book. Author talks more about the evidences than the mysteries due to which the base of the stories seems undercooked.

This is the fast paced read with a unique plot fill with twist and turns which will make reader's curious. Also, the title of the story has too many secrets in it too. Read the book to find out.

Apart from few grammatical errors and editing mistakes this is an interesting read with many secrets.
