The only reason that I didn't give this book one star instead of three, was that I liked the previous books and authors too much for that.
Let's start at the beginning.
Books one and two? Amazhang. Book 3? Meh. Book 4? What's happening to this series?! And book 5 is just a big fat NO. It did have some good things, but there were too manny horrible things to cover thaat fact.

Alex may not have been the best character in the previous books, but you stil kind of got and related with him. In this book, they perpetually ruined him. I'm serious. There was even a line that was like "Bow before my evilness." ????

Then there's there's thee relationship between Tamara and Cal. 2 stars were subtracted becausse if this. I loved Tamara but this book did not do her justice. I'm not hating on this relationship because I shipped Calron, in fact, I would've actually kind of shipped it. Kind of.
It was SO forced. I was geniunely hoping that this would be the book I was looking for. That one book in which a girl and boy could be in a platoknic relationship and stil be the protagonists without one of them being in a relationship with someone else.

A good thing about this book was Gwenda. She was pretty awesome. Another thing was the LGBTQAP+ characters. They mught not have given me Cal and Aaron, byt they did give me Kai and Charlie, Master Rufus and his husband and Ceclia's mothers. They also made these relationships completely normalised without any homophobia.

If you're a fan of this series and want to find out what happens next, you can read it.
But I don't recommend it otherwise.

Loved it great good to go through all the stuff with them from the start to the end with all the ups and downs they go through some sad bits an funny bits an scary an happy bits all together great stories well written books I do hope they do others similar to these the only down side for me was the way it ended it was a bit weird it was like is there going to be another one I don't know if it was me just reading into that or not but I would love to see more of these books they are meant for ya but saying that I loved them they are up there with the potter books just as good as they are I haven't read them never fancied them but these books are really good great story in each of the 5 books no boring bits grest stories couldn't put down will miss them defo recommend if like this sort of book don't be put off by it being for young adult it is suitable for adults as well well worth the money great read hope to see more from them

If you have read the other books in the series, this will be something you cant put down. I started reading an hour ago and I'm on page 135(with 2 children and a husband in lockdown!) This combination of authors (Holly Black and Cassandra Clare) seems to bring out the best of both, and this series is much better than their individual books. The text is sarcastic, funny, concise, and the plot is twisting and fast. Excellent characters, who are flawed, which makes the story.
The Magisterium series are books that you cannot put down, and I would be happy if they wrote 2 books a year of this series.
