About the Author
Rick Riordan, dubbed 'storyteller of the gods' by Publishers Weekly, is the author of five New York Times number-one bestselling book series with millions of copies sold throughout the world: Percy Jackson, the Heroes of Olympus and the Trials of Apollo, based on Greek and Roman mythology; the Kane Chronicles, based on Egyptian mythology; and Magnus Chase, based on Norse mythology. Terrifying dreams and enigmatic prophecies mean danger for seven teen demigods, but also good times for fans of The Heroes of Olympus series. This third volume thrusts Percy, Jason, Annabeth, Hazel, Leo, Frank, and Piper into action once again. Representing both Greek and Roman camps, the seven companions undertake a mission to prevent the imminent destruction of Rome, the awakening of Gaea, and the end of the world. Meanwhile, they help Annabeth in her quest to recover the ancient statue of Athena stolen from the Parthenon. Along the way, they encounter Nemesis in Utah, Bacchus in Kansas, Phorcys in Atlanta, Aphrodite in Charleston, and Hercules at the Strait of Gibraltar. Throughout the novel, the juxtaposition of humor and terror makes both aspects of the writing more vivid. The demigods use their wits and their weapons skillfully in a string of encounters, and their insecurities make the characters all the more appealing. With a true storyteller's sense of pacing, Riordan creates another compelling adventure, right down to the cliff-hanger at the end. Stay tuned for volume four. - Carolyn Phelan Booklist Online" --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Seven demigods are sent on a fatal quest across land and seas to Rome- the ancient lands where the monstrous power is too strong to defeat. On their way, terrifying surprises, deadly attacks and horrifying discoveries await them.
Honestly, this book is like a journey on a roller coaster. Yes, it was amazing but also terrifying at the same time. When I finally finished it, I was so exhausted.
The attacking-the-demigods parts, fighting the monsters parts left me at the edge of my seat. I couldn't stop turning the pages.Those scenes mess up your brain first, make you think that there is no way out, and then the characters come up with such an obvious solution that you agree with yourself that you're plain stupid.
Since it's Rick we talking about how can we miss sarcasm and humour. It was there. More than ever. I think it's not safe to read Rick's book in public because you're giving the people a chance to identify you as a psychopath.
This was the most intense book in the series so far. I was thinking of reading the next book later, but the ending of this book forces me to pick up the next one. The ending was so unpredictable that my jaw literally hit the floor.
No matter what fandom you belong to, if you read books, please don't miss this one. Definitely a must-read.
Wisdom’s daughter walks alone,
The Mark of Athena burns through Rome;
Twins snuff out angel’s breath,
Who holds the key to endless death;
Giants’ bane stands gold and pale,
Won through pain from a woven jail.
AT LAST!! Percy and Annabeth!!! Awesome cover page, as usual, although I’m a bit confused about it. I’m sure that the guy in the red/orange/darkish-pink shirt is Percy but the one in the purple Camp Jupiter shirt is the real mystery, to me. That might be Jason but I’m pretty sure Jason has blonde hair. Anyway, awesome and very gripping storyline. Lots of twists and turns. That last Cliff-hanger though: very unexpected.
Annabeth finds and locates Percy in another demigod training camp called Camp Jupiter. Leo builds a flying warship, the Argo II to fly to the Roman-based camp to get Percy and two more Roman demigods, Frank and Hazel, to start the quest for the Second Great Prophecy or the Prophecy of Seven, as the Romans call it. A twist of unexpected events forces the group of demigods to retreat from Camp Jupiter to save their lives. They head to the Mare Nostrum/the Ancient Lands, which is forbidden to all Roman demigods as the place is swarming with monsters, crazy tourists and what-not. The demigods fight a couple of dozens of monsters and a pirate/Percy’s brother. They are destined to fight the twin giants Ephialtes/the BIG F and Otis, the anti-Dionysus, who have Nico as their hostage and have threatened to destroy Rome on The Kaleds of July.
As Hera warned Percy (in the last book) Annabeth has a more dangerous task ahead of her. She must face her mother’s greatest enemy and find the Athena Parthenon to make peace between the Greeks and the Romans .
The rest of the story is based on how they face their tasks and save Rome.
Thanks amazon for prompt delivery and awesome book mark.

'PERCABETH' and it was wonderful.
Nico's dramatic entry after we got to know what could have happened to him in the last book I was worried but of course his entry was marvelous. The cliffhanger at the end was just too much to handle and now I can faithfully say that this was the worst cliffhanger that anyone can ever deserve. Overall a solid read and 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 book in my opinion...
PS: the cover is so good omg...

Wisdoms daugher walks alone
The mark of athena burns through rome
Twins snuff out angeles breath
Who holds the key to endless death
Gaints stand gold and pale

THE DEMIGODS HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TWO THINGS:
Nico and rome is going to be destroyed in six days.
Annabeth has to complete a immposibble quest following the mark of athena
It has its moments of the word 'epic'. This is the kind of book that you should read on Valentine's Day. It is like a book which is a rom-com with adventure and action.

JASON GRACE, SON OF JUPITER
Suuuuuuuuure, he's just a Roman demigod, but I'm not really fond of this guy. Ever since we were first introduced to him in The Lost Hero, I just felt like RR was trying to create a new Percy & it's not going so well, and it's kinda reflected in this book. He picks a fight with Percy Jackson (and I know he was possesed but listen to this second part), AND HE ACTS BITTER AFTERWARDS!! LIKE,BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!
PIPER MCLEAN, DAUGHTER OF APHRODITE
In The Mark of Athena, it's clear that the goddess of love and the demigod of love don't really have that "bond". One of the very few times Piper met her mother, she literally ignored her like she was a backup dancer in a show. Aside from that, I felt like Piper had to choose between

I loved the fact that Annabeth and Percy were reunited, in fact I kept re-reading that scene over and over again because it was just too perfect. Plus the whole group of demigods finally meeting and starting the quest was also perfect. I simply just loved it.
All in all this book screamed intense action and perfect characters. It seemed to me that everything just clicked into place and we were finally seeing the dangers of what this quest and prophecy actually holds. It was just a brilliant book in a fantastic series.
