The mentor by shobana Mahadevan @shobana_mahadevan_author
This might not be a story with a HEA.. but this was just how it should have been
The Mentor leaves a very good message about life and about how the human mind works...I always admire this about Shobana's books... the insights that leave you with a lot of thoughts to ponder over...Aditya is an adorable character. I loved the scene where he openly speaks abt his feelings for Sasha with Dyuti, bringing them even closer...Dyuti is someone most women can relate to, with her insecurities, managing her kid and home and office and Aditya is the husband every woman wants to have...Saasha needed Aditya to come out of her shell and their meeting was the best thing that happened to her... I m happy she finds her Mr right in the end ❤
Sobhana Mahadevan has added another feather to her cap with her latest book. As usual the narrative is simple and lucid. The Mentor – A Love Story deals with very few characters, the main being Aditya and Saasha. On the sidelines are Raghav and Aditya’s wife, Dyuti. There are few more amongst the friends circle. But the central characters are portrayed with such intensity that one does not feel like moving away from them. The story is woven around them.
As usual Sobhana’s narrative, though sounds simple, conveys a profound understanding of human mind. So she dons many roles such as a Counselor, a Team Leader, a Motivational Expert, and above all a Great Leader. Shobana carries her readers through the labyrinthine lane of mind, portraying through various characters her understanding of human frailties and the potential to overcome those frailties. I am sure Sobhana will put her great understanding of the human mind and her liberal thinking to further use through story telling, which is the best way of communicating with the masses and influencing their thinking. And that would certainly be of a great service to humanity. Apart from a story, this book can also be read as a study on the behavioral science with stress on organizational behaviour.
As usual what I like most about Shobana’s writing is her introspection in the background of her spiritual understanding. They come out quite often making one to think a bit deeply. Whether it is soliloquy by Saasha or introspection by Aditya, their thoughts are quite invigorating.
Have read all books by the author but this one is my favorite. The plot is so heart touching that I just fell in love with it. Aditya and dyuti are madly in love couple with happy little family. Saasha is just weird lot but have her own reasons to be one. But Aditya is the most loved, humble, understanding and loved by all guy. I am in love with this character. The twist took my heart away. But the story gave me so much learn about real love, trust, pure innocent feelings and unbreakable relationship. Definitely one should read it. Highly recommended 👌👍
This book is radically different from most- it takes a sensitive topic which generally is viewed to have only two shades- black and white, and introduces a gray shade, treating it with a finesse that brings out the depth of emotions that lie underneath. While at first you might not like the personality of the protagonist, Sasha, by the time you get to the end of the book, you start to admire the sheer guts and tenacity of her nature that makes her take bold, decisive steps to get her own closure, and start a new life - you develop a deep empathy with the underlying emotions- how her past informs her attitude, her fears, and how she literally transforms herself, to overcome her past trauma and develop faith in herself. There is maturity that is subtly portrayed in how she takes not only multiple societal considerations into account, but also the ramifications of her decisions, before she takes the steps to let go of her traumatic past and move on. This book is an excellent read that draws you in before you realize it ..
What a wonderful style of potrying of vharacter, the main characters seem so real but ideal as well Rare to find such species. It was just the other way of looking at things that I liked most about this book. Really awesome.
Third book from the author... Very different from first 2... It must have been very difficult to make some of the characters likeable to readers.. but fairly good job by the author... Excellent ending... Probably a best ending for such a sensitive storyline... Over-all a different reading experience... Recommend reading it...
The book was delightful and engaging. I felt happy and that feeling when you experience feelings of love when the lead pair are feeling it. Too bad that in books too at times practical wins against ideal. Good lesson nonetheless and can expect nothing less from the characters.
The book is relatable and relevant to things happening in IT company. Saasha, Adithya and Dyuti are beautifully characterized. The story is simple and handled beautifully. Kudos to the author for delivering back to back love stories.
It's a wonderful read with a very appropriate title. Author takes us on life journey of Saasha, a rude recluse and Aditya who is her boss. Aditya's entry in Saasha's office changes her life. Conversations between Aditya and his wife Dyuti are thought provoking and deep. Dyuti's take on Aditya's fondness for Saasha is refreshing. I really liked how internal/mind dialogues of characters takes the story forward. Do read the book to know more about Saasha and what made her recluse.
