Don't just read this at Christmas!
Reviewed in the United States on 5 January 2021Verified Purchase
Madeline L'Engle's book of poetry, essays, and excerpts from other books is a treasure. It reveals L'Engle's beliefs about the true meaning of Advent at Christmas time and through these poems and writings winds a thread that starts with creation, continues through the first advent of Christ-the birth of the baby Jesus, and goes all the way to the second advent of Christ-the Second Coming. Her poems and stories take the reader from the stars and galaxies in the universe to a tiny apartment in New York. It reveals her incredible mind and imagination that is able to blend science and mysticism, imagination and reality. It makes one think. It makes one want to read the book again and again, in order to understand the truly powerful Love of the LORD God-Our Creator and Savior and King.

Lovely Christmas read
Reviewed in the United States on 7 January 2021Verified Purchase
This book is a collection of poems, short stories, essays and reflections by Madeleine L'Engle on Christmas, Advent, Epiphany etc.
I have only read her children's books (A Wrinkle in Time was my favourite book when I was a child) so it was interesting to encounter her adult work.
It was a lovely book to dip into, reading one or two pages at a time.
