It channels a a bit Harry Potter but in the end all fantasy novels are fairly similar in plot. So it wasn't a turn off for me.
But I do have a problem with one thing in these books and the author in general and that is the number of chapters he has in all his books - there are about 100 chapters (in that ball park, don't remember the exact count) in a book that is 400 something pages. Some chapters are just 2 pages, and between one chapter and the next even the scene hasn't changed! And if you see the chapter title you can guess what's going to happen in it. Not sure why the author chose to write that way and why the publisher went with it. That is a terrible idea.
Thanks for a wonderful book Mr.Christopher C Doyle.. I would definitely read both the books before the next book releases.. nothing less than extraordinary..
The Sangha alongwith Satyavachan and "Saptas" continue their fight against Shukra and his monsters. There wasn't a moment when I wasn't intrigued. The author brilliantly navigates through all the characters and plots to give us a story which won't let you rest. We can clearly see the shift in the characters and their relationship. We actually feel them grow from being children to being adolescents. The characters are so vivid and real that you feel attached to them. The author has expertly written a particularly long action sequence which was breathtaking and I loved it to the core.
Maya continues to be my favourite character. She has to unnecessarily go through a lot of struggle to prove her worth but she continues to hustle nevertheless. I am also growing fond of Raman Kapoor. I think we can really take some inspiration from his determination and never-say-die attitude. The rest of the characters are equally effective and invoke emotions that they should.
There is also a huge surprise for readers who have read all of Christopher Doyle's books. If it grows into something, I feel it will trump all the other series I have read so far.
Again, the author has superbly explained the science behind some of the phenomena we might say are supernatural. It has generated great interest in me to read more about the science behind them.
With enough plot twists and monsters, this book will definitely keep you hooked from the first page to the last and the end will make you wait eagerly for the next book of the series!
Loved it so much!! Totally an unputdownable ❤
