The illustrations are also really good, they remind me of the Mr Men series. The author and illustrator, Adam Hargreaves, is the son of Roger Hargreaves, the original creator of the Mr Men series and there are definite similarities within the book however this is a very different style and type of story.
The book is brightly coloured, the bright yellow cover will definitely attract a young child's attention. The illustrations are big and bold, simple yet representative of the story. The text is really clear, ideal for a child learning to read and experimenting with longer stories.
A great book to give as a gift this festive period.
It's a nice book to read with short sentences, nice illustrations, and my two daughters have been enjoying it with the older one reading it to the younger one (aged 7 and 4 if that helps in your choice for this book).
The story itself is about Molly who wants a pet, and gets various ones from the zoo before deciding which is best. I know it's a children's book but there is something a little unlikable about the character in this book - perhaps a bit too precocious... I don't know - it is a children's book!
It does remind me a lot of the Dear Zoo book, although this is a longer story
