About Monica Shaughnessy
Monica Shaughnessy has a flair for creating characters and plots larger than her home state of Texas. Most notably, she's the author of the Cattarina Mysteries, a cozy mystery series starring Edgar Allan Poe's real-life cat companion. Ms. Shaughnessy has numerous books in print, including mysteries, suspense novels, children's works, and short story collections. She also writes under the pen name, Annie Bassett, with co-author Mandy Broughton. Customers have praised her work time and again, calling it "unique and creative," "fresh and original," and "very well written." When she's not slaying adverbs and tightening plots, she's walking her rescue dogs, goofing around with her family, or going back to the grocery store for the hundredth time because she forgot milk.
The best way to learn about her books is to join her mailing list, which can be found on her website: www.monicashaughnessy.com. You'll receive advance release notices, special discounts, and the occasional ARC.

Until now. From her cottage in Fordham, NY, Cattarina tells of her humble birth beneath the Schuylkill Permanent Bridge, her glorious trials as a gutter cat, and a chance meeting with Mr. Poe that changed not one, but two lives.
The Tell-Tail Heart (Book #1)
Edgar Allan Poe’s cat, Cattarina, mistakes a glass eye for a plaything and unwittingly pulls them into a crime even the constable can’t solve - a madman is on the loose, prowling the cobblestone streets of Philadelphia in search of blue-eyed victims. When her beloved “Eddy” develops an obsession with the case, Cattarina takes matters into her own paws and begins an ambitious search for the Glass Eye Killer.
The Black Cats
Fresh from her Glass Eye Killer adventure, Cattarina is once again thrust into mystery when she makes a ghastly discovery – a dead black cat hanging from a tree. Human authorities are uninterested in feline affairs, so Cattarina takes it upon herself to find the culprit and enlists the help of her four-footed neighbors.
