It's not a story that makes sense - kids' stories this age would seldom make much sense or logic, but that's neither the point of this book.
this is beautiful and a part of the special collection for your kids.
I'm definitely looking to pick more of these now :) !
Little baby monkey has lost his mum. He can’t find her. A butterfly tries to help him with hilarious results and no success. When will the baby unite with his mum?
WHAT WE LIKED
The mum touch.
Big and clear illustrations.
Rhyming sentences can be read out in a sing-song way along with the usage of lots of hand animation.
A number of animals are introduced in the story along with their specific features. Though a young reader might not understand the difference completely, with repeated readings, they are bound to remember.
WHAT WE DISLIKED the length of the story is a little long for young toddlers and one might struggle to keep their interest even though they like the book.
This is a must-have. Published by Macmillan Children’s Books (Pan Macmillan) Recommended age 2+ years.
I read it to her for the first time today and she had such a blast pointing out the butterfly on each page or the monkey. She also seemed to be really concerned about where the mumma monkey went?
Buy it - its definitely a story that warms the heart, and pictures that are a treat for the eyes (young and old!)

I thought that two things were very clever in this story. First, the fact that elephant is pointed out again near the end, and that the butterfly has to explain that HIS children do not look like him. There were many bright colourful pictures on each page, which stimulate the children's imagination and knowledge of nature. The descriptions were very clever, and great fun was had by the pupils when guessing which animal would next be shown to the little monkey. Poor old Butterfly tried very hard, but the story had a happy ending. Overall I thought that it was a super story, and just as exciting as "The Gruffalo", " Room On A Broom" and " Superworm ". For the follow up work I would like to be able to buy the " Monkey Puzzle Drawing Book" if there was such as book. I am hopeless at drawing.
This is perhaps lesser-known, but well worth grabbing.
A sweet, charming tale of a little lost monkey and a butterfly that tries to help. There is a really nice sing-song rhythm, a great 'tour' through a variety of fun jungle animals the wee ones love, and a cool wee twist to the tale. A very re-readable book that we've thoroughly enjoyed over and over, and bought copies for friends who've become new parents.
