Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie began writing during the First World War and wrote over 100 novels, plays and short story collections. She was still writing to great acclaim until her death, and her books have now sold over a billion copies in English and another billion in over 100 foreign languages. Yet Agatha Christie was always a very private person, and though Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple became household names, the Queen of Crime was a complete enigma to all but her closest friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a great book. The best one from Agatha.
By Digital Panache on 8 September 2018
This was my first Agatha Christie book and god it is still the best one I have read from the author. The way Agatha has developed the mystery in this book is commendable and amazing. If you particularly like detective novels like Sherlock Holmes, you would love this book. It is almost like I was investigating the case myself. The book is so engaging that you will not feel like putting it down at all.

I so blame myself for not having read Agatha earlier. Used to have library full of her books in school and just never picked one up. The characters in the book are so well developed that you can so distinctly relate with them so much. You would understand them perfectly well. Agatha has very cleverly ensured that characters come up and tone down as per the requirements of the storyline. Poirot has been brought forward and taken off at the right times in the book.

The story is very simple where travellers are trapped in a train which is stuck due to snowfall. A murder happens and now it is urgent and important to figure out who the murderer is otherwise everyone is at risk. Now going back to 1934, don't expect any rescue or outside communication. So this is a very difficult situation that travellers are in. Will the murderer be found. It is a very entertaining and engaging read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must read.
By Zainab Fatima on 1 May 2019
"If you forgive me for being personal- I do not
like your face."

The murder mystery has always been one of my favourite genres but a mind-boggling "whodunnit" literary work could possibly be served by Agatha Christie, the queen of crime.
.

Christie's books get my mind working, thinking and I like it when she shocks with the big reveal at the end and "Murder on the Orient Express" definitely delivered the thrills on front.🤓

With plenty of suspects on the Orient Express, there has been a murder! Well, anytime Poirot is around there is always one. Hercule Poirot is known to be (&self claims) the best detective ever. He constantly uses his powers of full observations and awareness of human features to solve the case.🕵

Murder mystery lovers who haven't read this book yet you're missing out a literary gem.✨

5.0 out of 5 stars Together we can find the murderer!
By Avas on 15 November 2020
About the story:
The book navigates through the murder that took place in the Orient Express in between Istanbul and Paris and gets stuck during a terrible snow fall.
The detective Poirot on board was assigned the task of investigating before the real police arrives.( The Yugoslavian police as the murder happened while it entered the country and became stand still due to heavy snow).
The time is limited, too many suspects/no suspects and opposing evidences.
Poirot has to find the murderer using available evidences, natural intuition and brains.

Enjoyed the read. Started investigating myself in parallel with Mr. Poirot. Was able to predict towards the end, but a classic while thinking about the time and society it was published.

About the book: The paper quality is really nice. Purchased the book for Rs. 160 during great Indian festival.
Medium sized letters offers a smooth reading.
