Five years ago when my wife shamed me into picking up my pen again, one of the first things I started writing was a mash up novel of Lovecraftian characters, and I really wanted Herbert West to be part of that team. Unfortunately, I'm a stickler for established chronologies, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't tell the story I wanted to tell with West in it.
Enter Dr. Stuart Hartwell.
He was the perfect solution, he had all of West's skills, but his timeline was mine to play with. But, I didn't know who he was, or what motivated him. So I wrote a story about him, and another, and then another. Quickly the mash up novel was set aside and all my time was spent focused on Hartwell. Those stories became the novel Reanimators.
Now, just a year later that mash up novel I wanted to work on. The one that was called at various times The League of Lovecraftian Gentlemen, The Miskatonic Club, The Miskatonic Men's Aide Society, The Arkham Oddfellowes - well that became The Weird Company and that hits the streets in September.
Hartwell is back, but this time he's not alone, he and his cohort have been recruited by . . .
Well you'll just have to read the book now won't you.
This is the book I wanted to write from the start, and if you liked Reanimators, you will adore The Weird Company.

He writes in several genres and styles, including contemporary fiction, historical fiction, young adult, science fiction, fantasy and horror. In 2011, his story "Moonlight in Scarlet" received an honorable mention in Ellen Datlow's List for Best Horror of the Year.

I always thought I'd end up as a writer. By the time I was forty, I'd ridden a pro rodeo bull, jumped from a bungee tower, performed stand-up comedy, played heavy metal in several bands, married (twice), founded (and bankrupted) two restaurants and consumed a stunning amount of adult beverages. But I hadn't published a word.
So, I left my job and went back to school, earning a creative writing degree from Colorado State University. Since then, I've published seven novels, six textbooks and several e-book novellas. More on the way.
Coming in January - "The Shadow Melody" - a historical romance with elements of steampunk and horror. The Prairies Book Review calls it "fantastic in every way."

Tom is a longtime devotee of the art of the fine frightening tale, and is descended from family that enjoys a good nightmare: is it any wonder he focuses on the weird and dark? Tom has published fiction in Horror for the Holidays, issues 21 & 30 of The Lovecraft eZine, Tales of the Talisman volume 8/issue 4, Undead and Unbound, Eldritch Chrome, and will be appearing in several more upcoming anthologies including When Darkness Calls and Atomic Age Cthulhu: Terrifying Tales of the Mythos Menace. Tom has also written eldritch gaming material which appears in New Tales of the Miskatonic Valley, More Adventures in Arkham Country, Tales of the Sleepless City, Atomic Age Cthulhu, and more! There are others, but the ink is not yet dry enough to share details.
By day, Tom is a middle school teacher, working to expand young minds, and spends his "spare" time hunched over his keyboard...WRITING.

Los geht es mit "The Arkham Town Musicians", eine Art groteske Parodie auf die "Bremer Stadtmusikanten". Die folgende Geschichte "The Magical Fruit" erinnert an "Jack and the Beanstalk".
"Black Goat of the Hundred Acre Woods" entführt die Märchengestalten aus "Winnie the Pooh" in Lovecrafts Traumland aus "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath".
