I love the Jack Reacher books. This is classic Lee Child. Reacher has hitchhiked his way from South Dakota to the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP, to meet the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner (because he thought she had a nice voice on the phone). He finds that she’s been arrested and finds himself back in uniform and charges with a decades-old murder and more. His new CO wants him to go AWOL and Reacher is determined to get to the bottom of things and to help Susan Turner. As usual, I stayed up too late reading this, even the I know that Reacher will prevail in the end and that he’s never in any real danger. But Lee Child keeps things interesting by the ingenious movie serial-like escapers his hero makes. My favorite was the airplane scene. This book seemed to be a slower read. It may be because I saw the movie before reading the book. The book contained much more detail that seemed to me to repeat itself.

Pageturner. Elite Writing Skills. Elite Storyteller.
Sucks you in the world of Jack Reacher and you just keep turning the pages.
Pure Swag. Falls in the category of pure masss.
To imagine Tom Cruise or other Bollywood actors, makes the novel super lit.
Can't explain how well it has been written. Pure Gold.
Though liberties have been taken and everything is not properly explained, this novel still is one of the sexiest novel I have ever read.
The biggest strength of the novel is the author himself aka writing skills and story skills.
The last 100 pages are bit dragged and slow and the author has not explained many things in this novel. The ending, especially could have been much better.
Final Rating = 4

Ninety nine out of hundred people like the steady, predictable, secure and settled life with a little white cottage having a red roof and green lawn surrounded by a wicket fence - too true. This means nothing to the hundredth guy who envies the howling wolf, he is the wanderer, explorer, discoverer. And Reacher is such a guy with the hundredth genotype. I liked the potboiler despite being a little boring in the mid-sections.

I am a diehard fan of the series and probably one of those crazy ones who given a chance would totally bribe, threaten or kidnap the author and make him write and narrate a jack reacher story every day to me. The cover of the book had a tagline which said that according to statics, a jack reacher novel is brought every four second in the world while I do not know the authenticity of this argument I definitely feel that it is true because I for one can never turn my back on a jack reacher novel.
Lee child undoubtedly is one of those authors who gives a perfect thriller with high dose of adrenaline, testosterone for the male readers and enough masculinity and plot for the female readers and maybe that’s the reason that Jack reacher finds himself fans with both the gender
The concept of one man army walking without anything to tie him down and nothing to scare him makes one hell of a character to let go and the factors that contribute to the success of this character is his, confidence which technically touch upon the level of arrogance and over confidence yet is one of the best reading experience you can bargain for.
This book too comes with the usual jack reacher-isms and a well narrated and weaved together plot. The fact also remains that I could be a bit biased because of my liking for the series but truth is that if you love a bit of action and thriller is your genre then you must give jack reacher series a try

The descriptions the author gives about things like houses, roads, diners are really painful to read. I lost interest in the plot while reading those detailed and unnecessary descriptions. Reading the derived understanding of how Dave Cottage was named was bloody painful. I left this book four times. I read it completely because I can't leave a book half unread. The second star is for the pain the author took to get all the details, however unnecessary and tiresome they may be.

No doubt about the quality of the content.
However, I am giving only star rating for the copy of the book which I received. As soon as I opened the book, nearly 40 to 50 pages came off. I believe that I was send a third hand copy used by four people who gave this copy to five people to read.

I kind of found this book to be okay. Passable read. It doesnt have the usual Reacher feel.i do suggest reading 61 hours before this.
*SPOILERS*
Countless armed officer conspiracies, the usual Reacher ending up alone, giving glimpses into Reachers family which eventually leads to nowhere. I felt that that i have read all these before. This book doesnt bring in anything new.
I have pre-orderd Lee Childs next "Personal". It seems to finally put Reacher in a global platform with much more scope for action and intrigue.

A Brilliant Story, Brilliantly Written
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 September 2017Verified Purchase
Child does it again, in spades. For the previous three or four books Reacher is heading for Virginia to meet a major whose voice he liked on the phone. No photo, no description, just a voice. He finally gets to his old army base to discover that Major Susan Turner is being held in the brig pending charges of treason. Reacher's antennae can spot skullduggery a mile off. Something is off about the new officer in charge and Reacher immediately determines to rescue the major. He finally meets her and was it ever worth it!! But he finds himself embroiled in a tense and dangerous struggle against the army and has to go on the run, accompanied by Major Susan.
Whatever Child does with language, he could make an Algebra equation utterly fascinating. His skill at whipping up tension, or even whipping up interest, is incredible. Once a reader begins a Lee Child book, there is no putting it down until it is finished. Never Go Back is no different. A brilliant story, brilliantly written. Buy it. You'll become a fan for life.

Good Thriller

This is another good addition to the Jack Reacher series of books, if you have read any of them then i am sure you have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Jack Reacher finds himself in peril, this time it could be his history coming back to haunt him. However using his wits and experience he manages to outsmart and outmanouver the bad guys using violence and will.
This is easy to read, and definately entertaining, i love hammering through these books and cannot wait to read the next one.

Overcomplicated and unbelievable

A great fan of Jack Reacher books - I own 18 and have read 16 so far - I had to stop reading this one less than a third of the way through out of complete frustration. It was too contrived and unbelievable, even for a Jack Reacher book. I was initially interested in it, because I enjoyed the Tom Cruise movie of the same name. Reading the book, however, I can see why the movie-makers almost rewrote the entire story in order to make it credible. I can't imagine them actually filming the story in the book. I don't think anyone would sit very long watching it in the theatre. So, give this book a pass and watch the movie. It's much better, despite the little guy Tom Cruise.

Big Disappointment

I am and have always been a huge fan of Lee Child's Reacher books but this one has really left me cold. I found the plot insubstantial and struggled to keep reading, which has never been a problem in the past. I found the first half of the book extremely boring with too much unnecessary detail and the rest of the book only marginally less dull. I have been offered the next book of the series and am so disappointed in this one I'm having second thoughts about even considering buying it. Perhaps Lee Child has finally run out of decent plot lines and needs to take a break instead of continuing to churn out what are at best mediocre novels.

A return to form

After a run of three books of Jack heading towards to his old military unit headquarters in Virginia and getting waylaid, Jack finally arrives to meet the voice on the telephone he was so intrigued by in
61 Hours
. She is Major Susan Turner but when he finally arrives she is not behind her desk. She is locked up and Jack is brought back on active service to stand Military trial for crimes he allegedly committed during his prior service. It seems not even Jack can escape the past, but when he is charged with something he clearly didn't do, it is evident that someone is fitting him up, will Jack manage to unravel the conspiracy?
This is the eighteenth book in the series, and is the destination he has been heading to over the last three books; ( Worth Dying For , The Affair and A Wanted Man respectively) - it all plays out in motels & U.S. military bases and is definitely one of the more institution-based JR novels. There is the usual fare of Reacher's raw-physicality, black coffee, Pentagon-statistics and attractive female lawyers. However it does feel much more like a return to form for Lee Child after a couple of damp squibs in a row despite a rather uninvolved ending to the story.
As an aside, it seems as if Lee Child has developed a random predilection for describing lightbulbs in this instalment. All in all, insanely difficult to put down - a real page-turner - and if you are a Reacher fan already you know what to expect!!
