3.0 out of 5 stars A nice read.
By Reviewer.21 on 23 September 2020
An oasis in the desert and other stories

This book is a collection of nine short stories. I love reading such books. This is a very short book of around 68 pages. I finished it within an hour. This was a really nice and quick read. The author has tried to convey different messages via her stories. Her storytelling skills are good.

My favorite stories from the book are "The imprisoned cocoon" and "The wheel of memoirs". The imprisoned cocoon is about a kid whose mother has a miscarriage and she slips into depression. The kid has to pay the maximum price of that tragedy. This story is about a mother who in the grief of her lost child neglects the kid who is still living and breathing.
The wheel of memoirs is about a dying woman who just wants to see her teenage fantasy fulfilled before dying. But what she gets was really what she wanted or there was more to it?

The narration was good and I enjoyed reading most of the stories. I feel that the stories at the starting of the book are quite better than the stories in the end. I didn't enjoy the last couple of stories as much as I did the starting ones. But overall it was a nice read. I like the colorful cover of the book. I would love to read the authors' other works.

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful short story collection! 💞
By Pratistha patel on 21 September 2020
This book is a collection of 9 beautiful short stories. These nine stories try to bring together different emotions and themes from different walks of life. Some stories are different whereas some are simple and yet very engaging. The length the book is around 70 pages. Some of the stories are five to ten pages in length.

The stories are written from a very fresh perspective. The first story titled " oasis in the desert" give me a little bit of Alchemist Vibe but context of both the stories is definitely very different.

Out of the nine stories I read from this book the" The imprisoned Cocoon" was my favourite as it is narrated from a 7 year old boys perspective and her mother just had an abortion and he is not able to understand the root of the problem as he is a child and the story quiet fascinated me and showed a very clear picture of children psychology.

The criticism for the book is that the language could have been a little bit more cohesive and some stories lacked depth which could have been better by adding some more imagery and descriptions in the story to describe the setting. Overall this book was a good read for me and anyone who is interested in reading a short story collection which is light hearted can pick this book up. I would definitely recommend this book to beginners who want to start reading I think if they pick up this but they will definitely be able to read it till the end as it is only 70 pages and there are some interesting stories to read.
