Product description

Review

PRAISE FOR JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL: Unquestionably the finest English novel of the fantastic written in the last seventy years. It's funny, moving, scary, otherworldly, practical and magical ... Closing Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell after 800 pages my only regret was that it wasn't twice the length

This is, in both the precise and the colloquial sense, a fabulous book ... a highly original and compelling work (SUNDAY TIMES)

An elegant and witty historical fantasy which deserves to be judged on its own (considerable) merit (SUNDAY TELEGRAPH)

Full of spells, bad weather, statues that talk, haunted ballrooms and sinister gentlemen with thistledown hair ... be enchanted! (ELLE)

The language of the book is such a pleasure you'd probably want to go and read it anyway

Best novel I've ever read

4.0 out of 5 stars Magical read!

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭.

Piranesi lives in the House. A labyrinth of halls filled with statues and tides that sweep through at regular intervals.
He doesn’t remember anything other than the House and he meets regularly with his friend The Other where they work together to learn The Great and Secret Knowledge.
Piranesi keeps diaries of his observations, but when he notices pages missing and someone starts to leave him mysterious messages in the halls he starts to question everything he has ever known.

This book is a complex, challenging puzzle you need to solve and it takes so much mental, intellectual energy to get involved into story. We just keep witnessing strange encounters throughout our reading journey including elephant carries a castle, squatting gorilla, a faun keeps smiling, chess lover kings: all of them symbolize something with deeper meaning.

It's easy to get lost in this fantasy World of hallways, vestibules, staircases and statues but luckily Piranesi is there to lead the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars The new book of Mystery 😊
By Pagesof_niru on 20 October 2020
ENTRY FOR THE NINGHTEENH DAY OF THE TENTH MONTH IN THE YEAR THE LOCKDOWN DAYS MADE ME READ BOOKS.

PIRANESI : 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

QOTD: Have you ever bought a book because of the auther ?

"The beauty of the house is immeasurable; it's Kindness is infinite" this is the adore pronouncement of Piranesi ❤️

When I wanted to start something intriguing in winter I picked this book because I like Susanna Clarke.

Piranesi is the obscure study in state of solitude. He writes his journal everyday and he wanders the halls and catalogues the statues. Very well described of levels of halls and it's versatile. It is a mysterious book and mostly fantacy and thriller.

If you are a person like me who doesn't understand much about directions well it take some time to hold onto this novel after that it's unputdownable. Its a great read. @amazondotin
