4.0 out of 5 starsI read the fourth, now I will read the first three!

This is the first of the four novels in the Gwen Marcey series that I have read. I just ordered the first three! I like the main characters of Gwen and her side-kick Beth and found a soft spot for Winston. This novel does stand on its own, but allusions to Gwen's past made me want to read the first three. The story moves along at a fast pace, and there are many unexpected turns. The only thing that prevents me from giving this book five stars is that some of the action and its consequences seem unrealistic to me. I would be more specific, but I want to avoid any spoilers. It is so good to have a Christian author take on this genre.
I stayed up way too late to read this book in one setting. The coffee pot has been running non-stop today to try to recover from that, but it was worth it. I couldn't put the book down. I was annoyed with the main character at times and thought some plot points seemed forced, but overall, it was very enjoyable. Unexpected plot twist at the end, but a happy ending for Gwen Marcey, at least.
Carrie Stuart Parks has penned a novel of "edge of your seat" suspense that kept me reading well into the night. I was absorbed by this story of a missing child and the heroines sketchy past. I literally could not put this book down. So many twists and turns kept me guessing.
