I bought this book as a birthday present for a three year old "Princess" and she loves it ! It is a fairly long book for a preschooler but the illustrations help to hold her interest as she develops her attention span. She wants it read at least once a day !
Although the story is well written, I think it misses it's target audience. The illustrations are very small and the story way too long for my preschool class. I was disappointed with the book in general.
Our family loves this book so much. It is so funny and engaging and inviting. We are currently sharing it with friends as birthday presents—it's actually quite affordable for such a big, beautiful hardcover book.
A gem of a story from 1980, newly reprinted. Forty-seven pages. And truly high quality production from the publisher, which is an outfit called Sterling. Hardcover, obviously designed to last that proverbial lifetime, and beyond. A great story, and truly one of the highest quality children's books I've ever seen
My 3 year old and 5 year old asked to check this book out from the library so many times that we finally bought our own copy. It's the perfect introduction to knights and medieval times for younger children, and my children are rediscovering all the Richard Scary characters I loved as a child.
I own almost everything printed by Richard Scarry- this book is so awesome, everything by him is a timeless classic. you have the main story adn then the art which creates mini stories, Scarry really loved to tell stories!
