The main story line is worth the read if you like space adventures. It has a decent twist on some technological ideas and a fair bit of action. A down side for me would be the somewhat preachy tone about sexualities, genders, tolerance etc. that the author throws in there. It detracted from the storyline and was a bit irritating... That said, I still gave it 4*. Worth a read... Just skim over the irritating lectures.
This series starts with the elimination of a species and ends with a plan for reparation. I actually like the hard science explanations of thrust, acceleration and inertial imperatives that dot the pages though my four stars centre on the fact that many of the species mentioned are not fleshed out enough to remain memorable of even necessary for the storyline to move forward. I can only hope they get a more deserving role in coming books to make a five star read.
Another awesome book from Stewart. Perhaps a little short compared to others of his that I have read; the ending was quite abrupt. Doesn't detract from the overall story all though, just makes me want the next book sooner!
