On the vet's recommendation I started to feed him mashed - soaked kibbles of the RC mini starter mixed in with puppy Cerelac ( called Meralac) in the ratio 1:2 . That didn't help much though as he kept throwing up.. So upon another pug owner's suggestion I made a few changes .
Instead of giving mashed kibbles , I powdered them first and then mixed with Meralac + water . Fortunately , he is able to digest it much better this way !
He's 52 days old now and weighs around 2100g. So - I guess its helping him grow. :-)
PS : His poop is also solid now . Thanks RC.
I know its my fault for being careless too.. but why would you even sell a torn packet? (The expiry date is on dec 2020) and I bought it from SpectrumEnterprise. Should have bought from old seller.
It doesn’t make the pup hungry for almost 12 hours. Which I think is not a good indicator.
My pup started hating it already (I ordered a 8.5kg pack) so I usually give it egg rice mixed with this or some chicken rice boiled with this. I know 35-40 days is too early to give a pup all these, but hey, what can I do if it prefers egg / chicken / curd rice to royal canine ! It’s a bulkier pup now. But I would prefer going natural with this pup and give the royal canine to bigger dogs at home...since the pup doesn’t seem to like it.

It's smelly, oily and full of fillers. Our breeder gave us a small bag and I like an idiot I bought this huge bag from Amazon soon after.
But after researching dog foods online, I realised that despite the fancy name it's made by Mars- a huge conglomerate who only care about profit.
You wouldn't eat MacDonalds every day, nor should your dog.
The majority of these specialist foods, for large/small/old/young dogs are complete marketing nonsense, and you should not ask your vet to recommend a specific food, they are almost all paid/sponsored/bribed by the manufacturers to stock and recommend their foods.
You'll see that is contain very little meat and lots of bi-product and wheat.
Consider a proper food like Aleka small paws, which is 80% meat and is actually a little cheaper than Royal Canin!
My 1 year old Border Terrier now eats a rotation of Aatu and Akela kibble, Forthglade trays, and lots of dried fish skins.
She's a really fantastic dog with a brilliant temperament, super fit and healthy.
She loves Terrier racing and she often leaves the other dogs standing!
The poop - my ideal dog poop would be one that leaves the dog in one controllable movement, is firm, brown, and of course jumps itself straight into a waiting dog poop bag folds itself in before making its way to the bin. OK it doesn't produce the dream dog poop, but the poop is firm, brown, and generally everything you'd expect from a decent dog poop.
Puppies due to the kibble being tiny little pieces.
Downside is its not grain free. But ingredients list appears quite good but for the price I feel there are better foods out there in my opinion.
Packages well in a stay fresh zip lock bag.
Did not cause my dogs any upset tums :9)
Please note that this package size doesn't have a closure to keep it fresh like the smaller packages do, once its open you will need clips or something to hold bag closed.
This product has tiny kibble pieces, even smaller than the Royal Canin Chihuahua kibble I normally buy. Its perfect as a starter for my Chihuahua puppies who simply wouldn't be able to eat any bigger pieces of kibble.
My nursing mother dog loves this too, where she has gone off of all her normal foods and is demanding wet foods this is the only dry food she will take, its very palatable and high in energy and nutrition.
My dog has had 2 litters and I've used this both times for her leading up to birth and after. Would recommend it to anyone who has very small breed dogs as puppies/ pregnant bitches/ nursing bitches and litters who are weaning.
I've never seen dog foods with such small kibble before and it is ideal for very small puppies.
I have been feeding Royal Canin mini Junior to my 7 month old Jack Russell Terrier since I had him at 7 weeks of age. He absolutely loves it and never leaves a single kibble. It's perfect for weight control as you can easily weigh this food and change the amount you give your dog accordingly. As a complete food, it has everything in it that your dog needs. This food can easily be put into bordem buster toys as well to keep your dog entertained.
Buying the 8k bags from Amazon is a lot cheaper than buying it from my vets or local pet shop. If you want the best food for your dog at a price you can afford, Royal Canin is the one!

the same product from Zooplus is £9.49 for 2KG (£4.75/kg) I have not found this product at £29.64 RRP. Yes I should have read the small print but I feel that it is a total misrepresentation an do feel conned
