Nevertheless, I felt motivated to train harder, be more consistent and enjoy running in the rain!
Very touchingly portrayed in chapter 2, each word brings about the helplessness, trauma, agony experienced by the author when the cruel hands of destiny shook hands with her. Some sentences were so profound like, “Time passed by but life was at a standstill……the support we received from friends and family was overwhelming and unflinching, but who could put the pieces back together?......A support system remains merely that, until there is motivation to move forward from within.”
After any traumatic personal life-event, a catharsis is usually needed. Some find it in music, some find it art, and for the author as she grieved for her great personal loss, found her catharsis in the warmth of running where the pent up emotions found their way out to the ethers. Thankfully she could come out of it as she says, “I had to what I had to do…..Instead of coping with life, we began to live our lives. The pain of absence has been converted into the joy of remembrance.”
I felt the authors emergence as a runner is due to the grit, determination, perseverance and discipline and has shown the world the person she is today.
It’s a small book could be finished in one sitting. The writing style is unique and I loved it. Interspacing her life story and her running story while relating the SCMM 2014. Nice one, and I would love to use it in my writing style.
Good work, worth reading. Hats off to the courageous spirit of Parul Sheth.
