\This is book continues the story of Ajay & Sia from ‘Soulless’. It is fast paced but the story is fairly predictable and comes across as hoping to be made as a Bollywood movie.
The first book set the tone well – Sia has a plan in mind and Ajay coincidentally enters her life at a crucial time. Neither of them has been truthful with each other. Sia has suffered abuse in childhood which continues to torment her.
The story moves quickly, and yet the story in this book is weak. There are a number of very predictable and ordinary episodes as part of the narrative.
This is not a bad book to relax with, though there is almost nothing to remember it by.
I love happily ever afters and this one was no exception. I was wanting to know what happens to Ajay and Sia’s relationship after I finished soulless. The book is fast paced and narrated well. The suspense and twists kept me guessing and glued to the book. There are many emotions in the book: friendship, love, trust, suspense and revenge. The author has beautifully dealt with the topic of child abuse. The characters are realistic and relatable. The point of view of both the characters has been dealt with, bust mostly Ajay’s. His love for Sia and all that he does for her has been portrayed well in the story. I loved the friendship between Harsha, Ajay and Jo. Though the story moves back and forth between the past and the present, not once did I feel lost, and it actually helped me relate to the first book of the series. The book is unputdownable till it is finished.
It was a chance encounter with "Soulless" that landed me at the doors of the character that is Sia Sampath. A woman who has it all yet is haunted by demons that are beyond her control. I must confess the title had mislead me into believing this book to be one of those cliched romance novel that ends with a "happily-ever-after". I am glad that the story made me eat my words.
If Soulless had introduced us to the demons that Sia had to fight in order to survive, Ruthless gave a face to them all. Child sex abuse is a topic we often shy from and it is this shyness and taboo association with it that makes us fail to see the grim and filthy reality of survivors. Be it Sia or Varun, their inability to embrace life's happiness was a stark reminder of what our inaction towards child abuse can do.
While the novel had a happy end, I can't help but feel happy that character arc of both Sia and Ajay was never abandoned in process of creating the story. Ajay grew from being a mere pawn to the master of the game and Sia evolved into a woman who could finally leave her past behind.
This probably was my first read where the book centered itself around the point of view of the survivor than the more common societal norm. The fact that Sia wasn't magically cured and held a part of her past, the fact that Ajay didn't let the blackness of his heart fade was a realistic reminder that this wasn't just another fiction looking to escape reality.
I am glad I came across Sia and Ajay's story. May every Sia find her Ajay and win over the demons haunting them for so long. I look forward to reading some more by Miss Kasi.
Once again, a gripping story. Became an ardent fan of this author. This story is not some scorching love affair with graphic details. Rather it deals with a burning issue on child abuse. Demons are those mentally sick people who could reduce themselves to such heinous crimes. First part dealt with very detailed revelation on why Sia did what she did. This part made me feel Sia is a hero fighting the demons. A salute to those women who fought for their cause. Sympathies for those who had to live with this. May all the Sias find their Ajay's. May people become more human n less devil.
If Soulless was Sia’s story, Ruthless belongs to Ajay. Ruthless is the sequel of Soulless by author M V Kasi.
Child abuse has become rampant everywhere nowadays. But sadly the abuser roams scot-free while the abused goes into his/her shell with a battered soul and mind.
If Soulless was addictive, Ruthless is just UNPUTDOWNABLE. Usually in sequels, sometimes the plot is revealed, and the track becomes predictable, thus making the reader lose interest, but not in this case.
Ruthless keeps you on hook till the very end. The twist and turns in the story makes the book unputdownable and keeps the reader guessing ‘What next?’
Ruthless is a proper balance of romance, suspense, mystery, revenge and human emotions.
I absolutely loved reading this series for its story, the pace, author’s style of writing, and the characters, all. Ruthless is a must read, no matter what genre you like.
This is the second (and final) book in the Revenge Games Series, which is a duology featuring Soulless (the book which contains the introduction of the story that is continued & concluded here) & this book, Ruthless.
Now I know that there are books in some duologies that work as standalone reads as well. However, you can't read either of these books as standalones, as the Revenge Games Series is essentially one big story, which has been broken down into two parts/two books - Soulless & Ruthless.
Speaking of which, Ruthless picks up right where Soulless ends, but while Soulless was mostly Sia's story, it's Ajay's POV that takes dominance in Ruthless, while never really veering away from Sia & her tale of revenge either. I have to say that I found it really interesting to see how well the author has integrated the two story lines and POVs.
Much like Soulless, Ruthless is pretty fast paced, with several twists & turns, some of them I saw coming, but many of them took me by surprise, and all of them were leading to the concluding sequence, which I must say was handled very well.
And for that I'm grateful, because after reading 2 books, I was really invested in how things turn out for the protagonists. Moreover, considering what Ajay & Sia had gone through, I knew there was no easy solution. Which is why, I have to commend the author for coming up with such a gratifying conclusion to this saga.
My only grouse with this book, is the same issue I had with Soulless. Both these books really needed one more round of proof-reading.
Nonetheless, I'd still recommend this book (and series) to fans of this genre, as this is a subject that certainly needs more awareness, and it's also a tale very well told.
Omg!!! This book is more than awesome.. I really really love this.A story with somuch of twists thrills love and romance..Dint even expect that the first one will end up in that way with that twists. When I completed the first series i was left so clueless what will happen next which urged me to download the second series.I totally went mad whenever those couples failed in executing their plan. And felt so happy once they succeeded.A true love story..Ajay's true love was something which made Sia to fight her own demons and that was very beautifully explained in this story. Altogether this is a super love and thrill packed story which everyone should read!! :)
This book is very interesting and unputdownable!!! It is fast pacing, thrilling, with a lot of suspense and have many unexpected twists!!
Author tells about how marriage influenced the life of both Sia and Ajay..Both of them lie, hate and manipulate each other but still they feel there is some love that binds them together..They slowly start trusting each other but their urge for revenge acts as a hindrance!!! Whether they are able to overcome it and live happily ever after makes the story interesting!!
Ajay's feelings, manipulations, mistakes, professional success in spite of his traumatic childhood, love for Sia are portrayed well by the author!!
Having read 'Soulless', the first part of this book I was desperately waiting for the second part to find a closure to the story of Sia. Sia and Ajay, two people who come together for all the wrong reasons like revenge and vengeance start falling in love with each other. Both the protagonists are fighting their own demons while leading their lives as a couple. Ruthless, the part 2 of the story was partly from Ajay's perspective. The book sobsuccintly puts forth the point that every person has their own way of dealing with their past. Some make themselves stronger n go beyond the trauma while some others live in pain and suffering. This book is a very fast paced almost like a thriller as there are many revelations n twists and turns in the story. There is never a dull moment. The topic of social evil of child sexual abuse and trafficking were dealt with very maturely n the author very neatly portrayed the various traumas both physical and psychological that these children undergo n grow up with. Kudos to the author for highlighting this social evil through the story.
