About the Author

Wallace D. Wattles 1860-1911) was an American author. A New Thought writer, he remains personally somewhat obscure, but his writing has been widely quoted and remains in print in the New Thought and self-help movements. Wattles' best known work is the 1910 book The Science of Getting Rich in which he explains how to become wealthy.

Mitch Horowitz is a PEN Award-winning historian and the author of books including Occult America and The Miracle Club: How Thoughts Become Reality. The Washington Post says Mitch "treats esoteric ideas and movements with an even-handed intellectual studiousness that is too often lost in today's raised-voice discussions."
