i loved this book so much i could not put it down! i loved the characters.**possible spoilers idk** Alessandra, oml she was amazing totally a villain but amazing nonetheless. kallias also had me weak at the knees when he was being slightly possessive over her especially when he said “your mine” ahhhhh. this book would probably be my favourite thing in the world if it had smut in but it’s a ya book and i already new that so i did not mind. a quote on the back says “it’s the slytherin romance we’ve all been waiting for” and i could not agree more, coming from someone who is in slytherin and is also extremely obsessed with dramione ff this was so good. the reason i got back into reading was actually bc of my ff obsession and i was like why not try reading an actual real life holdable book again, and i’m so glad this was one of the first i’ve read since that decision. i really like the fact that Alessandra is strong and cunning instead of wimpish and weak how so many other women are made out to be in books. i read this book super fast and did not get bored once. the thing that made me love this book even more was demodocus existing i love animals so much and i feel like he brought out the morality in kalias, as they were clearly best friends just as i am with my dogs. also again about kalias i loved he laughed at alessandras love letter off orrin it was so precious just like proper best friends.sorry for this very long review/anecdote but i really wanted to blab about this book! some of this review might also not make sense bc i’m rushing and not checking over and ideas a flying in and out of my head every second :)
I loved this book. Absolutely loved it. I’ve never read of a main female character that I’ve admired so much. I can appreciate that Alessandra may not be everyone’s cup of tea but her honestly is outstanding. She is strong and determined and brutally honest. She knows what she wants and how to get it. She is intelligent and powerful and still with feminine qualities. I honestly loved her even though I feel you are supposed to someone not like her. Her relationship with The Shadow King was brilliant and the development of their relationship was fantastic to read. You can see their vulnerabilities but together they represent their strengths. I’m sad to have finished reading it! I think it will be a book I read often.
What drew me to this story immediately is how unapologetic the main character is, she's a strong woman who knows what she wants and isn't going to act good or nice to get it. The kind, innocent heroine can be tiresome sometimes so this was a refreshing change , a passionate romance and wonderful friendship between two characters I loved.
I would have given it five stars, but tbh it just feels like a quick comfort read and I was only really interested in the enemies to lovers part 👀. However, levenseller did throw in a heavy plot twist and I found it really fun and enjoyable and the mystery aspect of it made it well worth the money. I love this author, and daughter of the pirate king is my favourite book she has written.
Loved the sarcasm and wit in this book. We all like morally grey characters, and both the MC and the love interest were definitely that. Missed one star because I felt like the ending was rushed, but I really enjoyed the progressive feel to the book, and finished it in a day.
The book was just so beautiful, I really enjoyed the fact that the main characters in this book are not necessarily "good people" I love that they seem more human because of this. This book is now in my top 10 favourites
Loved it. I was hooked an honestly could not put the book down! Did I know how it would end ?... yes Did I know who the 'bad' guys were?... yes But that didn't stop me from needing to keep turning the pages.
I loved this book! I took time reading this book because I knew it would be one of my favourites. I absolutely loved the women empowerment the main character brings to the story and how you shouldn’t care what others think of you.
