'She Erased Her' by Himanshu Rai is one of the most spine-chilling thrillers that I came across recently. I had a hard time putting this book aside to do some other chores because at every moment I got accosted with a new mystery and a new question which tempted me to keep turning the pages.
The story revolves around Samira Sinha, who is suffering from 'Misattribution', a type of memory loss, due to a car accident that she was involved in few months back. She does not remember anything with regards to her life before the accident. Most astonishingly, she is unable to find any records, photographs or any social media trace that can help her get a glimpse of her past. Samira thought of moving on towards a happier life, now that she got an opportunity to get her previous job back. What's more! Samira met a guy named Rohan Verma on social media who claimed to be her boyfriend and knows about her past life. Samira's professional and personal life were going on in a positive note but she was in for a rude shock. She started getting flashbacks from her past which indicated to her that the bruises still adorning her body were not just due to the car accident. What made it worse was Samira started getting threatening messages from a mystery woman named Kiara who seems to be an important part of Samira's past of whom she has no recollection about. What is Samira's true identity? Who is Kiara? Something terrible has happened which Samira cannot recollect but who will help her unravel this piece of mystery?
She Erased Me is an erotic thriller which has a heart-wrenching plotline. You might find yourself getting overwhelmed at times because of the gravity of the incidents mentioned in the story. I gave it a 4-star rating because I felt the literature and sentence construction could have been better. Other than that, She Erased Me is a must read if you are in for some jaw-dropping experiences.
