Questions for Dinesh

1. What made you write this book?

The deep interest to share my knowledge about Yoga and Indian Mythology in an engaging way, made me to write this book.

2. How did Shiva Origins happen?

To be honest, it happened with the blessings of Lord Shiva, the almighty. Writing about Shiva is the last thing I wanted to do because, his definition itself is so complicated if you refer to the earliest Vedas and Puranas. The book was meant to be a simple engaging story just focusing on Yogic puzzles. But as I was writing more about Yoga, the story completely shifted from my control and progressed towards Shiva’s Origin. Only then I realised that, Yoga and Shiva is inseparable. He is the Adhiyogi, the founder of Yoga after all.

3. Is there a message in your novel that you hope readers will grasp?

Yes. I have revealed several rare information on Yoga in Shiva Origins. I hope the readers will appreciate the greatness of yogic teachings and do further study on the topics revealed.

4. Why a book on mythology?

My journey started with my maternal grandfather who had instilled a great level of curiosity inside me when I was still a kid, on our Indian mythology and yogic teachings. As I grew, my interest grew further and I did a lot of research especially on yoga. So, when I wanted to share the yogic knowledge that I have gained from the researches, I thought of writing an interesting novel using mythological elements to deliver the information in an engaging way.

5. What was your hardest scene to write?

The hardest scene was the climax where there is a great revelation about Lord Shiva. It was hard because of the greatness of Lord Shiva. You can feel his intensity and I was having goosebumps while writing the climax scene. I had to calm down myself and continue the writing to create the best out of it.

6. The title points to the fact that it is an origin story of Lord Shiva. How is it different from all the other stories that have been written about him?

There are some novels such as Shiva Trilogy that have attempted to theoretically explore Lord Shiva’s origin. But I am not satisfied with the way the novels have portrayed him. Thus, I wanted to write a fictional story to portray Lord Shiva in a better way that I have imagined.

7. Can you share with us something about the book that isn’t in the blurb?

The blurb what you read at the back of cover is just a trailer of the main picture. There are a lot of things in the story that are not mentioned in the description. I am not supposed to reveal them but since you are asking, I will reveal one. There will be a secret character in this book who is connected to Lord Shiva that the readers can never guess who he or she is.

8. Any message for your readers?

Shiva Origins- The Son of Ganga is written with the aim to deliver an adventure that will excite you, amaze you and make you rethink about our great Indian legacy that our ancestors left behind for us. I hope after reading this book, the readers will appreciate the great teachings of our ancient Indian civilisation and do more research on the topics covered in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Story !
By Aditi Debnath on 8 January 2021
Shiva Origins : The Son Of Ganga' took place thousands of years ago and this book unveils the truth of Shiva Origins. The book is divided into two parts. The first part narrates the story of Abhay Sharma and second part is about Ghora.

Abhay Sharma, a young and brilliant student who loves to explore the ancient history, caves, temples and scriptures. Currently along with his friends he is all set to explore the hidden mysteries of Chola Dynasty. On his trip to Southern India, at Sathuragiri Hills he discovers an illusionary forest and queer cave. As Abhay enters the cave he finds various scripts, mysterious statues, strange creatures. He discovers the secret of yoga, decodes the signs with the knowledge of yoga and history of Lord Shiva.

Now the second half of the book narrates the story of Ghora who lived thousands of years ago. Ghora was a fierce warrior who was never responsible for anything yet he had gone through injustices which awakened the fire within him and turned him into an evil.

To be honest, I am running short of words. The story is narrated in such a brilliant and thrilling way that it won’t allow you to get distracted. The style of writing is amazing which captivates you for sure. The book is well researched and full of facts which I recently got exposed too. Through Abhay’s and Ghora’s story the book unravels a lot of secrets and gives you immense knowledge and know it you must definitely get your hands over this book. Also the book ends with a spine-chiller which creates a curiosity among the readers about what may happen next. Overall, I would rate it 5⭐/5⭐
