Review
"Deciding on dinner can seem like an impossible task some nights--not to mention actually getting it on the table! Jesseca is a fabulous cook, and she has done such a good job of creating delicious, quick, and simple recipes that are perfect for busy nights. The food in this cookbook makes you excited to eat it!" --Valentina Celant, Food Blogger at The Baking Fairy
"Simple Recipes, Good Food, the newest cookbook from Jesseca Hallows, is her best yet. The title won't lead you astray--the cookbook really is filled with simple recipes that are delicious. The book is broken down into simple meal categories, including an entire chapter of vegetarian and vegan mains! Most of the recipes have 10 ingredients or less and take 15 minutes or less to prep. There is something for everyone in this book, from grilled chicken kebabs with summer vegetables to chocolate sandwich cookie truffles." --Rachael Hutchings, Founder and Author of La Fuji Mama
"Hallows has outdone herself with her newest cookbook, Simple Recipes, Good Food! The book features classic mains and faves from my childhood I forgot about. Talk about nostalgic! There are also so many new, yummy ideas for chicken like her Slow Cooker Italian Chicken and Potatoes. I find we always have the same thing, so I can't wait to dive into these incredible recipes and change up our dinner table." --Melissa Olivieri, The Olive Blogger

The chapters include an introductory one meant to help you properly stock your pantry, then proceed to breakfast, soups and salads, vegetarian and vegan mains, poultry and seafood mains, beef and pork mains, snacks and sides, desserts, and a chapter on dressings, sauces, and condiments. The book makes use of things like spice blends, jars of pre-made sauces, and canned soup as ingredients. Some of those are great items for speed, especially if you're a kitchen newbie.
Recipes include such staples as scrambled eggs, sloppy joes, soft tacos, meat loaf, and pulled pork. There's a mac n' cheese hamburger dish, and a Tater Tot casserole -- things that, to me, scream "feed the kids in a hurry."
There aren't many photos in the book, but it's clear and concisely written. This is a fine book for busy moms, but if you really enjoy cooking, there are far more suitable books.

The recipes themselves are very simple, consisting of between 2 and about 7 or 8 steps maximum. The prep times are mostly around 10 to 15 minutes with cooking times being much longer (some in a slow cooker for 6 hours). Most of the recipes do not include pictures, which is a bit of a let down. The few pictures that are included are nice, but there aren't many. As I said, I'm a pretty experienced home cook, so some of the recipes in here were a bit simple and obvious for me, but there were equally many that I found interesting or that gave me ideas for something I hadn't tried before.
In summary, if you're an experienced cook, you may find a few recipes worth trying here, but you probably won't learn anything new about cooking tools, tips, or techniques. If you're a beginner and just getting started with the basics of how to cook better, this could be the right one for you.

Another disappointment for this cookbook is that there are no much photos -precisely only 12 of them; and only 8 or 9 are actual dishes from the recipes. A lot of time, I get inspirations from just seeing the finish dishes, seeing the plating, the colors, the composition, the balance of the dish. And from this book, there are none; I contested that without at least the picture of the finished dish, someone who had never tasted, or cooked one of the dishes, and even if he/she could have followed the recipe down to the dot, he/she would have no idea if his/her final product remotely resemble the actual intended dish.
Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.
