I like Sabrina's books a lot. Though Persiana is still the best she has, this new one achieves what the title says: Simply. You have delicious dishes for every day without hard-to-find ingredients and are easy to make. If you are looking for a cookbook that helps you to eat good food during your stressful workdays, this is your book.
I gave it 4 stars because I found some recipes similar to others she already has in her old books.
I buy a lot of cookbooks--too many. Simply is one of my absolute favorites! Lovely, simple, healthy recipes. The Curry Parmesan Toasts rock my world! Crispy cheese, curry and french toast--who would've known such a simple yet complex combination could become my favorite 15 minute meal?
The red bean and sweet potato curry is also divine, and there are a whole bunch of other recipes I can't wait to try. I own a couple of Sabrina Ghayour's cookbooks (Sirocco, Bazaar). I love them too, but Simply is the one I find myself using most.
Ghayour provides a variety of gorgeous, colorful, dishes, adapted for the American cook. Everything from appetizers to desserts, simple suppers to more banquet-appropiate meals. The author provides many vegetarian options, and the dishes with meat, chicken, and fish are heavy on grains and vegetables. So many of these meals looked appealing: I would have a hard time selecting the first to try out. These recipes seem created for a home cook with average experience.
