I recommend Brian Kistler’s book if you need confidence building as a complete beginner. Or DK’s ‘Artist’s Drawing Techniques’ if you want a serious and comprehensive drawing course. Don’t waste your money on this book.

Unfortunately the guidance and instructions that are given make assumptions that you know the terminology used in sketching / art. Some instructions could be better understood if it showed by means of an arrow or similar where the next adjustment was meant to be made as its not always clear.

I never knew the purpose of why artists use lines before they start, well now I do and it makes drawing things like spheres, books and 3D objects so much easier.
