4.0 out of 5 stars Musr read for Suspense -thriller lovers
By Asha on 16 September 2018
Sniper’s Eye is story of Aaditya Ghosh, our protagonist who is an Ex Major in Indian army and currently working in GRS International. He leaves Indian army due to some undisclosed reasons and is living a secretive, reserved and quiet life. Soon he starts dating a colleague, Zoya who is a strong, confident and caring person. This story starts with Aaditya and Zoya roaming around in a mall and a man in front of them gets shot. Aaditya tries to save the situation and ends up getting caught in media circus. This is precisely what he was trying to get away from. He has a dark past and that’s why he was living a low key life but his heroic act brings him on national television. As all his efforts to hide his past go in vain, not only his but also the lives of people around him gets in danger.
In first half he is trying to get away from all the commotion which is happening. But due to certain change in events, he decides to face it and fight it. He wants to clear his records and save life of his lady love. In order to achieve this he agrees to work with IB officer Thapa and becomes a “bait”. Meanwhile, he gets captured by terrorists and that’s when he realizes things are not what they seem like. He gets to know people he trusts are the ones who are manipulating him and have a bigger agenda.
This book touches very sensitive and current topics like Indo-Pak relations, cross boarder terrorism, Jihad, corruption, politics, power play etc. in a subtle and effortless manner. It also talks about life of people in armed forces without glorifying anything. We get a point of view of army officials and their struggle story. Even role of media has been explained subtly. How, all they care about is big stories and how quickly they can change their stand on getting a bigger scoop. Aaditya who was once called a hero for saving lives, soon projected as a “Children-killer” by the same media on the basis of little to no evidence.
Narration is brilliant and on point! It starts with a bang and will keep you hooked till the very end. It’s a fast paced story and full of action which won’t let you put down the book at any point of time. I finished this in almost 4 hours in a single sitting. The adrenaline rush will keep you on the edge till the last chapter. Writing style is easy and simple. Even cover is so apt for the book - View of city from a Sniper’s eye.

All in all, I loved and totally enjoyed this book. As it’s first book in the series, I will definitely go for the next in line.
