Negatives - not many, maybe the only is that a gentleman with a personality like Edward's is unlikely to be a rake.
Positives - always good to have an educated lead female, although obviously that comes from her mother, as her father is as described a 'spaniel of a man' a wonderful description which is only inaccurate as spaniel are intelligent. - the hero's aunt is not typical of the ton, is helpful and unexpectedly likeable. - the lead male, whilst a duke, has a softer side, and admits he has much to learn, this too is unusual.
Our heroine is educated, a tad opinionated, but wise enough to know she has much to learn to fit into her new life, however she stumbled into it.
Our hero is very careful in his ways, exacting and perhaps driven in his ways. But he has a softer side he loves animals and being outdoors as much as he loves his duty to his station in life. Again one wonders how he became known as a rake, as it doesn't fit how he lives his life.
In the end they both adapt to bring themselves to a happy life.
