I received this book as a gift and read it on a flight not too long ago. I was hesitant to do so thinking that it would be dense material from the scriptures but it turned out to be a good, easy read.
Swami Mukundananda covers a range of topics such as the relationship between the body, mind, and soul, concept of rebirth, past karmas, destiny, and free will, paths to God-Realization, science of devotion, etc. I enjoyed the Q&A format because there were questions that I would never have dreamed of. Answers are short & succinct.
Think of it as an Introduction to Vedic Scriptures or Indian Spirituality for adults. This little 200 page book should be on everyone's library shelf!

I bought this book from an exhibition and happened to read it in pieces after my office hours reaching back to my home. I had a thought that it might be a dense material for me to absorb, but when I started I found its content crisp, easy to understand and really interesting.
The Question and Answer format it the best part of this book, as it helps the seeker to unfold the many questions which are sometimes don't come in your mind directly but still exist in your practical life. I think its a great book of Vedic Scriptures references and should be there in your book collection for a lifetime.

Among the many spiritual books I have read, some became a drag, I lost interest midway and they ended up incomplete. Yet my spiritual quest continues...
I found the question and answer format of this book great. I can move back and forth easily or skip some subjects that do not interest me.
Many questions answered... but there are a few more.. Look forward to his next book!!

I picked up this book to understand who I am and what my purpose in life is since it seemed easily readable and at the time I had not developed a deep interest in studying scriptures like the Gita etc. Thanks to this book I am now pursuing spirituality regularly and have discovered that everything said here is based on the authority of the Vedic Scriptures. The knowledge presented here is life changing and can make one inspired to pursue the path of God Realization. An example is the description of what the soul is. Given below.
***************
The body is like a dress for the ātmā. Every morning, you take off your old clothes and put on new ones. Similarly, when the body becomes unfit for the ātmā to reside in it any longer, the soul leaves the body. It is then given a new body in accordance with its karmas (actions). This process of giving up the old body is looked upon as “death,” and the process of taking on a new body is called “birth.” Upon someone’s death, some bury the body and assume that the person is lying in the grave. However, the soul is not in the grave; it has left for its destination to another body. What is buried in the grave will soon be eaten by worms and turn into mud. In the Indian tradition, the body is not buried after death. It is burnt and prayers are offered for the departed soul. As we unfold the mystery of our soul, the next apparent question is, “where does the soul go once it leaves its body?” An interesting thing to note at this point is that the soul does not exist alone as the All-knowing God always resides with the soul. Hence God keeps an account of all the actions of the soul and upon death gives their results. But one must not think that God is a mere judge, He plays a much bigger role in our eternal journey although for now this understanding should suffice. According to the scriptures there are 8.4 million life forms and the soul could be born in any of these species. It is not necessary that if a soul previously had a body of a human being it would continue to do so. It could take any form of a cat, dog, cow, tree etc. Somewhere this knowledge also helps us to realize that our human life is a tremendous opportunity given by God to know the Absolute Truth and attain perfection. Amongst all the life forms, human life is the most special because it possesses the power of knowledge. With this special faculty, we humans also have a greater responsibility.

I want to rate this book less than one star but Amazon is not allowing me do it as it does not have that option. This book is in Question and Answer format. Most of the questions are being answered by giving references to some other scriptures e.g. Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam etc. It is absolutely ok to use other books to find the answer.
However, the problem comes when the author starts to use his logic to find the answer.
For example, Chapter 4 (page 43) - Why did God create souls and bring us into this world? Why there is so much of suffering and misery?
Answer - God is a very rich. He wants to share his opulence with us. He created us so that he can share with us. However, he will only share it with us when we truly love him.
This answer looks like the author just put words in God's mouth. These types of answers demand follow up questions -
1) What if we do not care about God's opulence?
2) What if we do not want to get created?
3) What if we do not believe in conditional love (if you love me, i will give you things; otherwise, F&@# Off)?
The end of the author's answer is just like going to a church and listening to a priest - "God hopes and waits for the day when we too will perfect our love for Him and attain Him for the rest of the eternity."
There are some way better books available on Amazon than this.
