To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I can't believe this theme is deemed suitable for children. Reviews from KS1 and KS2 children were included.
The theme? Domestic violence resulting in the murder of the main character's mum.
I just cannot believe that this is okay to write about for a general audience of children, thus introducing them to ideas that children don't need to know about. I understand that it may be a helpful therapy tool for children who've sadly experienced domestic violence. However, for anybody else, I don't think corrupting the innocent is a good idea.
I was personally very moved by the book. But I'm an adult (a primary teacher) and I'm aware of such things. But would i want kids in my class to read it? Absolutely no. My copy is in the recycling bin lest my own children should find and read it.
