4.0 out of 5 stars Tales with thought provoking messages within
By Pooja Srivastava on 28 May 2020
"If God is Omnipresent, why can't wishes be fulfilled from our own homes instead?! "
The Common Man; Stories of Us by Bobby Sachdeva
If you read the above quote from this book, you definitely got the highlight of the book! Yes, this book is a collection of 41stories, eccentric yet relevant in a deeper level. It questions the customs and superstitious beliefs which we unconsciously follow without questioning.
It compasses various topics like GST, God, demonitization etc. But for me the execution of the story that is the narration, and plot horizon is little all over the place. I loved the abrupt, open ended endings of the story, but couldn't latch on as a whole.
Writing and language is pretty lucid and comprehensive, nothing intricate. Narration could have been better. But applause for choosing the unspeakable topics and raising questions that lies in our subconscious mind but we never dare to throw light on it.
A light read overall with underlining thought provoking messages.
