Strangers of The Mist: Tales of War and Peace from India's Northeast Paperback – 14 October 2000
Frequently bought together
It is an excellent book in every aspect. Fast paced, sticks to facts and gives a clear background before delving into complex topics. The best of the book is its structure. The author analyzes the insurgency in each state separately and links them seamlessly wherever required. The erudition and in-depth knowledge of the author is evident throughout the book. A must read for those who want to understand the dynamics of the north-eastern states. --Tejas Feb 17, 2015

By reading this book, I thoroughly enjoyed and get to exposed to lots of facts and events which had an impact to those areas till now. Some of the issues are continuing till now and I am able to know about it only after reading this book.
Lots of interesting facts and events are well documented. If you want to know about complete history of North East India, you can definitely go for it!
Well researched facts .but human right abuses committed during operation bajrang and operation rhino should be represented well on middle of book , rather than at end pages .
The mainland Indians have a very narrow outlook when it comes to NE states. Many don't even know the names of the states.
The govt has failed time and again in addressing their problems, and political parties have been playing with the public sentiments. Not good.
