Sword of Mars is the seventh instalment of Damien Montgomery’s story and I have to say I’m a fan. This is another good chapter of Damien’s story and the writing delivers the normal good balance between the pace and depth of the story which keeps me interested in the characters and their fate. I am definitely looking forward to the next book and the Starship's Mage has become one of my favourite Sci-Fi series.
Note: I received a free electronic copy in exchange for an unbiased review (but liked it enough to buy a copy anyway)

Like Vol 6 in this series part of the book is spent with the Hand and his adventures, and part is spent documenting the variuos space battles that occur. I give 4 stars for the first part, but 1 star for the battles which have become very tedious with lots of detail about how many missiles, how far away they are, what their acceleration is. DULL. DULL. DULL. No one cares. Stick to the story-writing Glynn, its good pulp sci-fi stuff. Ditch the technical nonsense.

This book closes off part of the story and opens a new thread that was hinted at a couple of books ago brilliantly. I really like the merging of magic and tech that this series deals with as it adds so much to the narrative while still having limitations.
Well worth a read, but I would suggest getting the earlier books first.

This 7th book in the story of Damion Montgomery was eagerly awaited but I was so disappointed. There was the usual repetition about the runes of power, the message arrays etc, but the author seems to have a fixation on ballistic capabilities of missiles and warships. Totally unnecessary and left the actual story line very rushed and without detail.
