I was looking for a book that focused on the "thankfulness" of thanksgiving--using this time of year to express gratitude for all the good things in our lives. I wanted less focus on pilgrims and that sort of thing as we are from Canada and our thanksgiving is more about the harvest and giving thanks.
This book is perfect. The back page includes a place to write your "thankful thoughts" and I think it will be nice to include different things from each year.
The book opens with "Thanks for thanksgiving, turkey and pie. Thank you for fall and gold leaves floating by."
It continues on to list things like school, music, animals, hopscotch, puddles, parents, the moon etc. I really like the rhyming style and the variety of things to be thankful for, everything from puddles to "the family I love."
The illustrations are beautiful and almost every page features the family together, emphasizing that being together is the greatest thing to be thankful for.
