This book is the second in the series. It goes on to finish Amora’s story. It does a good job of going on to describe some of the events in the first book to keep you caught up. And the ending….so beautifully written and left me with such mixed emotions!

4.5 stars!

All the Tides of Fate by Adalyn Grace. Book two in the duology with All the Stars and Teeth! All I can say is wow! I loved this one. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so I'll keep this short. I loved going on this final adventure with this beloved crew!

I'm sad that the story has come to an end. I'd love to read more about Amoras future adventures. And even some stuff from Vateas and Shantys point of view would be amazing - especially Vatea, she is for sure one of my favorite characters!

Definitely read this one! If you haven't yet read the first one, read it if it's something that sounds interesting to you so that you can read this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Conclusion to the ATSAT duology

I finished this book at 2am because I couldn’t stop reading. I needed a full day to really sit on this book before writing this review so I hope I did it justice.

This is the second (and final book) in the ATSAT duology. Going into this book Amora has just lost her father and been thrust head first into the position of Queen of Visidia with no magic and half her soul & magic in her boyfriend. Understandably this will mess up a girl’s emotions and head. I love that the author didn’t stray away from this. She didn’t give Amora a chapter to mourn and then quickly move on. The whole book has Amora dealing with the aftermath of this trauma in the form of panic attacks, sleepless nights and even dissociative episodes. I would put a trigger warning on this book for anyone dealing with severe PTSD as this might be difficult to read. Amora also struggles with her feelings towards Bastian as she fears that some of her intense feelings maybe due to the curse.

It was nice to spend some time on the other islands meeting new characters and learning about the struggles that each island is facing as a result to the changes to learning multiple magic. It was also interesting to see Amora try to be charming and enduring to her people when this is absolutely not her personality at all. We also got to spend more time with the whole Keel Haul crew and added two new faces to the crew- Shanty & Casem, who only added to the great banter of this team.

For those Amora & Bastian shippers there is also a very steamy scene for you.

I’m not going to spoil anything but the end of the book broke my heart and then partially band-aided it back together. Please prepare your tissues and your emotional support reading friends to scream to about this once you finish. The emotional pain doesn’t ruin this book by any means but it helps to be prepared.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this duology for anyone looking for a magical escape this year!

I still don't like the characters. I felt like Amore never really learned at all and I didn't get why she never trusted in her crew. It just never clicked for me even though I liked the crew. I will grant that Amora is a strong character, but man is she arrogant and violent. And thanks, I hated that ending. Still, even if it's not my cup of tea, if you liked the first you will probably like this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful world I was sad to say goodbye to.

Having recently read All the Stars and Teeth, I was SO excited to dive back into this world. All the Tides of Fate certainly did not disappoint! It’s so hard to put into words how I’m feeling after this one. Definitely feeling all the feels.

The story starts off a couple of months after the events that took place in the first book. You quickly become acclimated. Amora has taken her rightful place as queen of Visidia through much blood and sacrifice. The islands in the kingdom are in a state of turmoil and with people beginning to question Amora, and her authority, she doesn’t want to show anyone her weaknesses. She can’t let anyone know about the curse, her loss of magic, and the boy who holds a part of her soul.

To save herself and Visidia, Amora sets out on a quest to find a mythical artifact that could fix all their problems. She finds that it comes at a terrible cost. She tries to find a balance between everything, and learns that the power to rule could absolutely destroy her.

I really loved Amora, although I wanted to throttle her at times because of some of the decisions she made. I found myself going “Why?!” a few times. Amora did face a lot of tough decisions though, and she is stubborn and very strong-willed, and felt as though because of her position, she was the one that had to get things done. I loved how Adalyn wrote this character. She just seems very real and authentic. I am happy that the story didn’t just gloss over Amora’s grief and anxiety either, and it was handled well.

I truly enjoyed the whole cast of characters in this duology. I’m so glad I got to spend more time with Amora’s crew. They were a lot of fun, and they gave me a lot of laughter as well as tears.

A delightful world that I am sad to say goodbye to. A painfully beautiful story, make sure you have some tissues handy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, loyalty and plenty of action!

All the Tides of Fate is the sequel to All the Stars and Teeth. Amora is ruling the kingdom after her father’s death. She’s dealing with advisers and others that are trying to show their lack of confidence in her through insubordination and rude remarks, but Amora handles it well. Bastian arrives at the meeting and announces himself an adviser. At the end of the meeting, Amora is asked to prove her magic is working and is told that she needs to be engaged to give the kingdom something to look forward to and as a distraction. Amora manages to trick the advisers into believing her magic is intact with the help of a few others. She travels with her crew to pretend to find a fiancé and search for the artifact needed to restore her magic and make her soul complete. Full of action and loyalty and deception and tough decisions, All the Tides of Fate is a perfect ending to this duology, 5 stars!

When an author creates a character, you want to feel them with every breath you take as you read. You want to know them. You want their world to be yours. This is a hard task to accomplish, however, Adalyn Grace has not only accomplished that task but has touched my soul in a way I didn't know I needed. When her characters struggled with grief and anger, I found myself able to work through my own. Learning in the journey of this novel that holding onto the past doesn't help us move forward. I hate to admit how many adventures I missed out on because of my grief and anger in my past. But, in finishing this book, I see a new light at the end of the tunnel! This book, this world that was created in my mind, with the generous help of this wonderful author, now sparks a sense of adventure in my soul thats been missing. I can't wait to see where it takes me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great conclusion to the series

I won't let my bitterness over not knowing there would be a sequel when I read All the Stars and Teeth last year affect this. The time between reading these books definitely didn't help me, though.
At first, I was frustrated with Amora because she wasn't leaning on her friends when she clearly needed to. I had to piece things together to remember what happened.
But when I did, and when I realized that she was actually suffering from PTSD and depression as a result of the events of book one, I was absolutely over the moon. So few authors show the in depth psychology of tragedy and grief and the long term affects it has, on the individual and the people around them. I freaking loved seeing that in this book.
Dark and gritty, set in a well-thought-out world with fully fleshed out characters with unique dilemmas, I highly recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh…

I must admit, I was very curious to see how book 2 in the series, would be handled, from beginning to end.
I know, that to some, the majority of this review may seem more negative than positive, but let me start off by adding that I am glad I stuck it out and finished it. I just wish it wouldn’t have taken half, or more, to finally get to the plot and the excitement.

From the description we’re told "…Through blood and sacrifice, Amora Montara has conquered a rebellion and taken her rightful place as queen of Visidia. Now, with the islands in turmoil and the people questioning her authority, Amora cannot allow anyone to see her weaknesses.
No one can know about the curse in her bloodline. No one can know that she’s lost her magic. No one can know the truth about the boy who holds the missing half of her soul."

By the end of Chapter 8, just shy of 20%, I’m already sick of the same spoiled, petulant, whining child, that was introduced in the beginning of book 1. It’s back to My kingdom, My people, My rights ( as far as now being "The Queen", versus "The Princess" in book 1.)

At the end of book 1 it appeared there would be a future for the main character and a certain "boy," who technically is a man. The usage of "boy" has played out already, and has become overworked and unimaginative at this point ! Not to mention that it comes across as condescending and derogatory.

And now it’s all about how angry she is, how she refuses to be controlled by another half, if it wasn’t her decision-with her now not being even sure about the one she seemed quite happy with in the last book. It’s all her fault, and she alone must fix all the injustices that have been done to Her, and Her kingdom.

Ugh already!!!! It made me come to the realization that it was time to take a break from continuing reading this one, just as I did so with the first book.

The self pity, and the constant self flagellation, has become too difficult. Also not much as far as adventurous plots to solve or find the main characters up against.
Suddenly it’s a romance novel. The typical "I don’t want, him, I don’t deserve him, oh he’s so hot, no, no, can’t go there…" Gotta find a husband to help me run My kingdom…
The book has become more depressing than the life I’m trying to escape from for a few hours.
UGH X 10=Total disgust.

And the extensive "love" scene that finally comes to pass, is filled with every last detail, preposterously graphic, and so voluminous, I skipped it entirely. It exceeded the TMI factor to the point of just wanting to poke out my own eyes, in order to not have to read another word.

Other than all that, it does have its moments that it gets back on track, and it did have its moments to be enjoyable to read.

If you’re looking for time to burn, this could be the book for you. I can’t really say I found it all consuming and making me want more. I was just glad it was over.
