Or so I thought. BUT, this is among the few favourite books of my two toddlers aged 2 and 3. I don't understand it, but that doesn't matter. They are obsessed with susie and the tiger, it makes them smile when they are sad, so it's a five starrer.
My child absolutely loved this tiger with such a sweet face.
This book was published first in 1968. And magic dust is not settled in last 50 years. Kudos for Judith Kerr.
My three year old specially enjoys when the tiger swallows all the sandwiches on the plate in one big mouthful 'Owp'. And loves the part where tiger finishes all the food and drinks in the house.
Not to mention how daddy had an idea for the family to go to a cafe.
Try it with your children and I feel you won't be disappointed with the purchase. It is regular story in our bedtime routine.
If you are looking for a good book for your toddler, go for this one.

In The Tiger Who Came to Tea (and Mog etc) she leaves a legacy that means she'll never be forgotten in the literary world. I adore many children's books but this is the one that I always think of the most fondly. It was one of my own favourites as a child, it has been a favourite of all 3 of my own children and it's still to this day one of my favourites to share with nursery/Reception age children.
A timeless classic to treasure generation after generation. It doesn't surprise me it has been one of the nation's favourites for 50 years now. RIP Judith Kerr.
The book is ideal as a gift or as an addition to a child's book collection. The pictures are clear, with lots to discuss and notice and the text is just perfect, again, lots to talk about and have fun with. An essential part of a child's early education - especially the fun part!
