The book caught my eye when I saw it at our local library. To get the full effect of the language I read the tales aloud. What fun! These whoppers sounded so authentic to me that I purchased a copy of the book for my 92-year-old, Maine-born brother-in-law, knowing he will love them.
But I am not sure at what reading level children will be able to appreciate them. The stories would work well if an adult read them to the children so they could explain what the youngsters did not understand. Readers who have trouble understanding the new vocabulary words will appreciate the glossary.
