Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 26 November 2020
I first came across the talented author/illustrator Yuval Zommer in his recently released [[ASIN:0192769820 A Thing Called Snow]] and loved it…the story & the accompanying atmospherical artwork.
So, this was a natural acquisition for me, and I am now saving up for the hardback edition for my ‘forever shelf’!
In the meantime, this paperback version I will happily share in the run up to the 'big day', as folks all around gear up to go and choose their Christmas tree.
This story has a happy ending for the tree that all walked by, because it wasn’t quite right one way or another. The forest animals make sure of that and a timely act of nature provides the perfect finishing touch, but this tree is not just for Christmas, as it turns out.

The current stock images above & on the aforementioned [[ASIN:0192769804 hardcover edition]] product code show a fair snatch of the content.

From the back cover:

‘…‘AM I THE TREE THAT’S MEANT TO BE?’
Like all of us, the little fir tree in this story wishes for love and support.
Let Yuval Zommer show you his lyrically written, warm and hopeful festive vision of the natural world.’

Adding a touch of sparkle, there is glittery (no-drop) texturing to the colourful front cover, including on ’THE TREE THAT’S MEANT TO BE’ ~ ‘a Sunday Times book of the year’.

Measuring around 24.5 cm x 31 cm, the card cover opens to 32 good quality, matte finish pages, the story spanning 29, in double page spread format, bar the very last.
Slightly larger in places for emphasis, the text is clear in black throughout for the main part, maybe a little tricky on the darker background if the light is not so great.
The seemingly simple artwork has more in it than first meets the eye, offering scope for further discussion, as we drift through the seasons ultimately providing support for others in more ways than one!
