From the Publisher

1. Is this a typical ‘Ajay Pandey’ romance novel?

To be honest, I don’t think my novels are the usual type of romance novels – they do deal with other issues as well. In this one, too, the characters do care for each other and there is a kind of romance, but it is not a traditional one. For me, a good relationship is the perfect romance in life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended!
By Under Review on 30 May 2019
📙The story is about Abhay who lost his wife to brain cancer leaving behind a son, Ayush, of 2. Sheetal enters into his life as a caretaker of Ayush. Ayush enjoys the company of Sheetal. But, one day Abhay finds out that Sheetal is a transgender. Would he succumb to the societal pressure and sack Sheetal from her job or resist it? ⁣

📙It always feels good when the mainstream authors write upon a social issue. Transgenders are always loathed by a mojor sector of society. Certainly they don't deserve the hate they receive. It is not their fault as one can't control the way he/she is born. The author pointed out the issue through this book.⁣

📙The language is pretty simple. You can finish the book in one sitting if you're dedicated, unlike me. I always say that Ajay Pandey's books are light and meaningful; the combo which is hard to find in the scenerio of Indian Contemporary Fiction. Meaningful books are hard to decipher and light books are all about an avarage looking desperate engineer chasing a super-hot girl. Ajay K Pandey breaks the status quo. ⁣

📙The thing which disappointed me the most is its cover. It seems like it is designed by an intern (with due respect to the whole community) than a professional book designer. This is surely not expected from a reputed publisher like Westland. ⁣

📙Overall, I enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone looking for a light weekend read. ⁣

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece!!
By Tejal dave on 29 May 2019
Author Ajay K Pandey is back with one more masterpiece with epitome of emotions. An Unexpected Gift is a beautiful story on a totally different subject, it's about a transgender woman Sheetal and her struggles to get fit into the society. Abhay who is a single parent, unaware of Sheetal's reality hired Sheetal as a caretaker for his son Aayush. Sheetal loved Aayush as her own child and they both shared an amazing bond of a mother Son relationship.
So what will happen when Abhay will come to know about Sheetal's reality?
Why Aayush started calling Sheetal as "Mumma"?
What was that Unexpected gift Abhay gave to Sheetal on her birthday?
To get the answers read this outstanding piece of writing. Storyline is crisp and engaging with the unique subject which gives a meaningful message. Author has done detailed research about the subject and some of the examples are mentioned which give depth to the story. Some of the quotes are really beautiful. Cover is nice and title is perfect for the story.
I am very much sure after reading this powerful story people will start accepting transgenders with love and respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best one so far
By Amreen Shaikh on 1 June 2019
Book: An Unwanted Gift
Author: Ajay K Pandey
Publisher: Westland Publication
Rating: 5/5*****
Cover: Beautifully designed and it conveys a deep meaning and thought.
Review: First and for most congratulations to the author for such a wonderful concept. Touching such topics in India is a taboo. Still talking about third gender is commendable.
The best part of Ajay sir’s books are coping up with life threatening diseases and social message.
The story runs around abhay who has lost his wife to a life threatening diseases with a small baby boy left behind. Being a single parent managing everything becomes difficult task. So caretaker comes into the story and the real story begins.
As usual Ajay sir has touched the hearts of his readers. Such a beautiful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gift to Humanity
By Teja on 3 June 2019
An unexpected gift, the title makes complete sense as the story progresses to culmination. The story bears characters that add different essence in their own way.

Abhay, married to Kanika, loses her to an ailing battle leaving behind their son, Aayush. Managing his grief, a job and the apple of his eye becomes overwhelming to Abhay at times. This eventually leads to the entry of Sheetal.
Sheetal is an amazing human being, destined to be a selfless, caring mother with a slight twist. The love that she showers on Ayush and her perseverance to face the world relieves Abhay from all his worries about his son and also it clears the rudimentary clutters he bears.
Subhajit is a less spoken character, still brings a different approach in the fable, person who might compel you to believe in the prevalent goodness of the world.
Mr. Ashok, also mentioned lesser, contributes to mending Abhay's beliefs about society through his epic and religious references from Dwapar yug and the Mahabharata.
Last but not the least, Kanika becomes the guiding light to Abhay, incognito, lifts up his spirits and encourages him to step towards, what might seem extremely aching to heart but soothing to the soul.

The cover photo of the book is totally justified by the title and content of thr story. Every chapter ends with a satisfying plot end and the next one begins relatably.
Ajay Sir, as usual has done complete justice to his art of storytelling. A perfect blend of emotions, soaked up in love and strength, lessons delivered with some spice of humor to keep up the edge to readers.
a must read to vent out the inner turbulences and think about upgrading to a better version of ourselves.

By Jaggu on 30 July 2019
This time I don't have any words. Reading this book, I have more respect for my author friend now.
Dedicated to the real Sheetal:
Never accept the taunts that the world throws at you. Every woman is a daughter friend sister wife or mother to someone and you are not less than anyone.
Our author friend is actually a true hero who had written such wonderful stories. Keep on writing Pandey ji.
Lots of love ❤️
