About the Author
Nadja has been a words-nerd all her life. She speaks English, German, Italian, and Spanish (with varying degrees of fluency), can teach Taekwondo classes in Korean, and is currently working on expanding her French vocabulary. Since receiving a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing with a minor in US History at the University of Minnesota, she has served as the office thesaurus, dictionary, translator, and spell-checker in every one of her day jobs. She wrote her first terrible novella at the age of eight, and is now focused on writing comics and novels for young adults. Her work can be seen for free in the online graphic novel, Impure Blood (www.impurebloodwebcomic.com), which is drawn by her soon-to-be husband, Nathan Lueth. Other illustrated projects she has scripted for Round Table include Everything's Okay (Sept 2011), Altucher Confidential (Dec 2011), Delivering Happiness (March 2012), and Influence: Science & Practice (July 2012). Aside from a love of a good story with pretty pictures, Nadja and Nathan share a house, a cat, a turtle, and a belief that more people should embrace their inner nerd

Review
A breezy take on the past, but that s the point: to produce a comic that youngsters will actually be inclined to read, and perhaps even re-read. --The A.V. Club; March 2012, http: //www.avclub.com/articles/graphic-novels-artcomics-march-2012,70229/#comment-456898966
I highly recommend [The United States Constitution: A Round Table Comic Graphic Adaptation] to anyone interested in United States history, or to teachers or families wanting to teach kids about our government in an entertaining way. I will be using it with my own kids whenever we study United States history or U.S. Government. --Jenny Williams, Geek Dad; March 14, 2012 http: //www.wired.com/geekdad/2012/03/constitution-comics/
While the U.S. Constitution s primary value is as a document, it is also a historical artifact that embodies the fascinating story of its own creation. In this version, Baer and Lueth (who coauthor the online graphic novel Impure Blood) generously cover both aspects, and the core text (the first ten amendments are noted but the text is not provided) is intercut with the drama of a Constitutional Congress that actually drafted an innovative work despite personal prejudices, turf wars, the divisive slavery issue, and the searing heat of a 1780s Philadelphia summer. In a triumph of character design, Lueth has created distinct, memorable images for each of the many delegates who hacked through their Gordian knots as the summer dragged on. Hill & Wang s lengthier book of the same name includes all amendments and more background, but this volume dramatizes the compelling soap opera of egos that, against considerable odds, managed to create the imperfect yet sorely needed document that has endured for more than two centuries. VERDICT While context for some plot elements is not clear, this graphic novel dramatizes a historical precedent for group action despite disagreement that we should heed today. A free curriculum guide by Katie Monnin (Teaching Graphic Novels) is available. Recommended for tweens through adults in and out of the classroom. --Library Journal, May, 15, 2012
Whether you're a parent, a teacher, or an interested citizen, what if you could explain the Constitution and the disagreements that led to its crafting in about an hour? Round Table Companies, a publishing company, has done just that by assigning to a writer and an artist the challenge of creating a graphic adaptation to explain the writing of the United States Constitution and the effort the founding fathers exerted to ratify it.--Kate Kelly "Huffington Post, February 27, 2012 "

A Solid Foundation to the Founding
Reviewed in the United States on 17 August 2019Verified Purchase
The United States Constitution: A Round Table Comic is an educational and creative look at this nation’s founding document. Round Table Comic guides readers through the text of the Constitution, using the Constitutional Convention as the backdrop, and switches back and forth between the delegates debating and the Articles of the Constitution. Additionally, they include several “Historical Find” sidebars, highlighting interest pieces of trivia, and footnotes about changes that were made by future amendments. The illustrations of the Constitution are kind of odd though; using a chorus of characters from different time-periods and even robots and cyborgs from the future (probably done to offset the white maleness of Colonial times). For an educational comic, The United States Constitution: A Round Table Comic is pretty good and will give kids a solid understanding of how the government works (theoretically).

Fun learning

I read this graphic novel in 90 minutes. It is a witty, well crafted review of The Constitution, including the history leading up to its creation, the debates during the Constitutional Convention, the entire wording of The Constitution and its application during our nation's history. One of my favorite panels, on impeachment, depicts Presidents Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton in front of the House of Representatives while Richard Nixon is running away. The Founding Fathers (and Mothers) are easily recognized. The art work is fabulous. The detail of faces, clothing and backrounds is wonderful.
This is a perfect book for kids (5th-8th grade?) but is fun for adults to read also. It would be a great teaching tool.

Simply a wonderful book! Every American should read this unique way of describing (in a fun way) the founding of our supreme laws of the land we live in. Buy it for you, then give it to your kids to read. That's important, you know!
