My order arrived without the CD for the book and my little boy was so disappointed as he liked listening to the story at Nursery and had asked me to look for the book and CD so he could enjoy at home. I reviewed my purchase and having seen how disappointed I was, the seller contacted me and arranged for another copy of the book to be sent out including 2 copies of the CD. This is a brilliant book for children (and adults alike). As we all know children like us to read certain books to them again and again and again. Mostly this is a pain in the posterior. Not with this book though it's written so well that you don't mind knowing all the words off by heart. Check out the other book in the series 'The Very Busy Day' that one is just as good.

I first had a copy of this book for my son, who is now almost 12. It was an instant favourite, so much so it was read most nights. I then passed it on to my 2 nieces who enjoyed it just as much. Some reviewers have slated the book, saying it encourages children to attempt what we parents all dread, getting in Mum and Dads bed! Not in our experience! I would suggest that if your child is prone to coming in your room, maybe this book will not help, but niether my son or nieces were encouraged, in fact after such a lovely story and looking at the fabulous illustrations, they were all more than happily tucked up in their own beds!
I now have a 2 year old, and ordered this new version, which now has a CD, meaning I can take a night off. I have enjoyed rediscovering this book, Little Mouse scared by the noises at night, the wind, an owl, and his attempts to get into bed with Big Mouse, met with refusal, until the end of the story. I've even told my partner how, in my opinion, Big Mouse and Little Mouse talk! And in the morning, my rather spirited daughter is still where I left her when we finished the story - in her own bed!
