Happy never, ever.
Hate is said to be disturbingly similar to love.
When it comes to him, I’m cursed to harbor both.
The specious spark that brought us together with an all-consuming obsession quickly became the catalyst of my undoing.
Shadows and darkness have filled the bittersweet years that saw us take two very different paths.
Judas Barron has become an intimate stranger.
He’s older now. Unpredictable. Heartlessly cruel.
So much more beautiful.
He isn’t the only one who changed.
The girl he once knew is gone, rotting beneath the wreckage of what he destroyed.
His influence and power have spread like the plague. With his position solidified he’s decided to make good on a promise he made and like the strike of a match, a hellish blaze consumes us once again.
This time, it's up to me to decide how this will end.
I can reign beside him, or make sure his dynasty is scattered among the ashes of our ruin.
****
Vicious Dynasty is a dark enemies to lovers 'romance'. It is the third book in the Reign & Ruin Trilogy and cannot be read as a standalone. This story contains explicit content and some subjects readers may find objective.

Wrap up

I wanted a little more fight from Rhiannon before she accepted Judas and it wrapped up pretty quickly. But the trilogy was a good read overall..

Doesn't work for me.

I can't, I really tried but this series doesn't work for me. No progress is made, there's still no communication, only that "You're mine" statement. Are we only going somewhere? I don't have the patience to find out, sorry.

QC lacking

I want to like Bennett's work. Her ideas are interesting, but -and I day this as someone who's read most of her backlist the execution is lacking. I've always wondered if English was a second language for her, because a lot of the errors were consistent with those speaking a second language. She has so many books published by now, however, that a professional copy editor should be part of the process. Random commas proliferate, run on sentences abound, and mistakes in word usage (reigning v raining) muddy comprehension. There are many contradictions; Rhiannon would express a hatred of something and two lines later she loves it. It makes for a lot of work to read a so-so story.
And that story has its own problems. There are too many questions left unanswered, too many hints left unexplained. Sorry, Natalie--I gave you a lot of time to build your writing chops, and it's not happening. I don't need to know how any of the stories end enough to fight through another mess like this.

It is not a bully book wrong inference
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 15 July 2022Verified Purchase
If I knew the book was more inclined toward a boss/mafia theme, I would stay out from reading the book. I do not like mafia books because authors that are not specialized in this type of writing; perform wrong and do not know what they are writing, especially without careful research. I did not love the read and plot of the story; at times, it was confusing. I am not sure why the author wrote the book as it is. Let’s start from the beginning. In book one prologue, the prologue is straightforward the main characters Judas and Rhiannon meet and have sex in a perverted manner, surrounded by death. The entire book is surrounded by violence and death. If someone breaths wrong or is a bully to Rhiannon, it will guarantee a death sentence. Issue number one; I do not understand why Rhiannon was sent to a prestigious high school for senior year, and her parents agreed, but in the meanwhile, they wanted her to stay away from Judas. I have some problems with it, which does not make sense even after reading the entire series of Judas and Rhiannon. Her fake parents were not even hiding her. Shouldn’t they hide her primarily from Judas? After book three, there is no closure about the actions, plot, and subplot, and I still have questions that are left unanswered. For instance, why was Rhiannon kidnapped and kept alive? Why was her biological mother kidnapped or sold, and how did she die? What was the event that brought the death and kidnapping? Why target Rhiannon biological mother? The author does not discloses, not even in book three. Even the allocation of where Rhiannon and her parents live does not make sense.
Crudele is a place owned by the Judas family. However, moving forward, according to the author, Judas reappears after 1-2 or 3 years after they meet the first time; it is not clear from the author's writing how many years have passed. While reading the book, it seems as if he never left Crudele, where he goes to high school, but then the author makes the reader believe that he just reappeared senior year; the writing goes back and forth about it, which is very confusing. Another issue with the book is regarding the age and the power these teenagers have; it is unbelievable and outrageous. These teenagers all act like an adult even their conversation is too adult. I found it silly the reasons to slaughter a person without no remorse and for illogical reasons. I wouldn't say I liked the author's writing and the logistic behind the scenes. The entire book is disorganized; the thought process is highly deficient and illogical. The three books were unnecessary; with the way the author writes, it would have been enough one book. I am not interested in this author's writing; therefore, I will not continue to read her books. There are much better authors to choose from other than this author. I wasted time reading three books without disclosure of the plots.

“Then I am very fortunate you love me for all the times I’m not.”

My favorite wee Barron
“Oh, we're still chaotic, but I choose to love the hell out of him instead of murder him while he sleeps.”
Amazing how much a person can grow and mature in just a few years
So much has changed yet stayed the same with these two
Oh, they are still toxic together and I think they always will be
But it is a mutually beneficial type of toxicity
“There’s nothing more pitiful than a king that’s gained everything, just to lose his queen.”
Judas has decided it is time to claim his queen
Even if she is digging in her heels in refusal
He will sway her to his point of view
Eventually...
“Then I am very fortunate you love me for all the times I’m not.”
I loved the way this trilogy wrapped up
Just something about these two
How they met ;)
That constant push and pull between them - despite how much Rhia denied it they were alike in so many ways
How Judas pre-planned - everything - he was always ten steps ahead - Many of those steps are revealed in this episode
How, after years of torment and psychological abuse, Rhia allowed herself a moment to scream and cry about the injustice then donned her shhh it kickers 😎 and didn't bother asking for names
As you expect from a Bennett romance this is packed with splattered crimson, broken heads, an overprotective partner(s), lots of inappropriate behavior, and the most cuddle-appropriate hea for this couple
