I enjoyed this book as it had an exhilarating plot and fast-moving plot with multiple POVs,which were all so good.
Simon, Oh Simon! He needs to figure out what's going on in his life and start clearing all the mess instead of hurting his friends and hurting himself in the process. The vacation helped him get out of his depression, at least!! ( Thanks to Penelope). And I loved the writing style. It makes you unable to stop turning pages. The settings, spells, humour & the smartness of the plot are mind-blowing.
Okay then the vacation turned from escaping from magical creatures into a rescue mission to save their Friend Agatha. And finally Agatha showing us some her badassery moves!
I felt sad seeing Baz going through some issues related to his Vampirism. His love on Snow is just so pure and I- *sobs*.
Penny is such a strong and caring & brilliant Mage, she deserves all the happiness in the world.
Every SnowBaz scenes were cute, lovely &heartbreaking (in a good way) even when they're arguing with each other. I'm slightly disappointed that they couldn't clear/have a talk about their ship. (THANKS TO PENNY,AGAIN.) Overall, it's a good read, adventurous &captivating book.
I rate it 4.99/5.
There are many scenes I loved so much. Baz and Penny's, Agatha & Penny's and the last scene of SnowBaz❤ It was totally enchanting.
This book tells how one should get out of their depression, importance of friends and love and also tells not to lose trust on yourself just because you were wrong once and to keep fighting!
Quotes:
"Why can’t you see that I wouldn’t be happy anywhere without you?” "I’d tie our hearts together, chamber by chamber."
Now the problem is I can't wait for 2 years for the next book.
Also I wish I could cast *As they were* spell on my dearest #Snowbaz ❤

Short Bookreview:📚This book starts with Baz worrying about depressed Simon, who constantly has negative thoughts on everything. Then Penny surprises them with tickets to fly to America. They find themselves excited to go for vacation to America. Little did they know that they're getting themselves into a big trouble with America's Magical creatures!

Wayward Son might have hurt me i think. This book is a literal roadtrip, just that there are a lot of obstacles, too many downs and a very few ups with very little rest. This book made me laugh, a bit emotional and made me want to throw it at the wall.
Baz, Simon and Penelope decide to take a road trip across and it doesn't go as planned. As the characters unravel another adventure, we get to see and understand other aspects of them and the plot. My boys were hurting and my little heart could not take it okay?
But i liked that we get to see Simon, post tragedy of book one, emotionally, mentally and physically adjusting. There were the psychological aspects of his and Baz's relationship which I think were done well and it exhibited that they are infact young boys and their mundane feelings were well portrayed.
I loved the character and relation development in this book. To see Baz and Penelope go from not even looking at each other to Baz and her sharing a bed and him using a family spell on her was just adorable. Penelope is quite the same, a brilliant mage and trying to save Simon's ass. also, Agatha for once put her abilities to use and helped. but yeah kids need a break.

Angsty teens being angsty
That's not to belittle in any way but definitely the feel I got from this book, a lot of that came from Penelope. Though we definitely get it from Baz and Simon too.
All of them are getting older and their lives are expanding outside of the bubble they were in in school and life's not easy to navigate for anyone especially when changes are happening.
Baz and Simon broke my heart in this book. I have to say this: do not go into this hoping for the same feel as Carry On, it will guarantee disappointment. It's not to say it's a bad thing, just different.
Now, back to Simon and Baz breaking my damn heart. There is depression, and if you look at it it makes sense in a way because so much has changed but especially for Simon at the core of who he is/was, this carries through to every aspect of his life and impacts his relationships. Where Baz is concerned it actually gutted me, there's so much fear and walking on egg shells it is painful.
“Those fights used to feel so good. It meant getting to look at Snow. Getting his attention. Having a place to hurl all my feelings for him, even if they came out spiked and razor sharp. Fighting doesn’t feel good anymore. It feels like breaking something because you don’t know how to fix it.”
So, the gang go on a road trip to America to save Agatha who Penelope is positive is in danger. They encounter so much which I kinda loved, seeing the different magickal beings in a different capacity was pretty cool. We've got a kidnapping or two, a King vampire, Jealous Simon, new friends, and highs and lows. The road trip brings a lot of fun in many ways but I'm glad Rowell did not use it as a quick fix though.
“Sometimes Simon kisses me like it’s the end of the world, and I worry he might believe that it is.”
There seems to be a proverbial carrot hanging over Agatha and Penelope but it will be interesting to see if the author goes somewhere with that or will she pull a J.K. Rowling now that Shep is in the picture. Shep who I LOVE by the way. He is so lovable. I hope we keep him forever
I will say that I am frustrated as hell with the ending. It feels like Simon and Baz's need to *talk* was a big part of the arc of this book and then it ends how it ends. I'm pissed actually.
Then there's the lack of romance, it's understandable, honestly, and we get it tiny doses but then it's ripped from us in a way, while I would've enjoyed much more romance I did end up really enjoying the adventure aspect especially in the second half. Some of this book is very sad, it's not all doom and gloom though, we've got funny parts probably mostly thanks to Shep but we've got the characters growing and learning a lot about themselves.
