Review

When Love Rises by Michelle G Stradford is a well-written poetry collection that I found myself getting wrapped up in very quickly. Overall, this book took me on an emotional roller coaster as each poem truly showed me a different side of love and each one was imbued with such emotion that I felt like I could connect to each poem on a personal level. (Sefina Hawke, Reader's Favorite)

With a colorful picture, the initial poems are partially inspired by a hummingbird. Then we experience a tightrope, a free fall, and a 'trusting of the fall'. Through analogy, metaphor, and "sumptuous verses" the author entrances us with words and tastes. The sound of a piano, a poem brilliantly orchestrated with words flames and music all telling us of the different stages of a love affair, and much more. And amidst this a bracing for the fall. This is an extremely creative, imaginative collection, each poem related to the one before and the one after, the whole of the book creating an enduring tapestry of a love--of all love. Two thumbs up and five stars for a unique collection by a writer of exquisite poetry. (Howard Lipman, Amazon Reviewer)

In Michelle G Stradford's emotive collection, When Love Rises, the character's experiences make the poems authentic. The collection captures a realistic journey of two lovers. It contains myriad emotions from feelings of delight to those of pain. The last section highlights the character's growth as they deal with the pain and the need to move forward as reflected in the poem, No More Excuses, which states, "I am done trying on these different faces, no more practicing how to make excuses for why you never show up. "When Love Rises is a heartfelt collection that is a treat for romance poetry fans. {Edith Wairimu, Readers' Favorite}

When Love Rises by Michelle G Stradford is a modern poetry book in the sense that the context and situations are clearly contemporary and adults and young people alike should be able to relate to them easily. I liked the poems that convey a sense of empowerment in the lines. These are inspiring and encourage people not to give up on looking for love because it is what makes life meaningful in any sense. Michelle writes with a nice rhythm and flow and I am sure poetry fans would appreciate this collection. {Gisela Dixon, Reader's Favorite)

Michelle Stradford's gift of a book is a survey course in love--the highs, the lows, the thrills, the chills. Moving, beautifully-written poems and flashes of prose cover a wide variety of moods: playful, wistful, spiritual, primal. A book you can return to as needed for a shot of inspiration or an escape. .(Elisa Speranza, Amazon Reviewer)

Each poem is more beautiful than the last. The book conjures up so many feelings. There is such a depth and honesty to the author's words. Her writings take you to far away places, a first love, a love lost, a love renewed.... I appreciate the vivid detail she gives to so many of her poems. You won't regret reading this book or better yet sharing it with the one you love! (PAgirl, Amazon Reviewer)

Reading "Love Rises" feels as if you were turning the pages of a novel that capture bits of emotions ranging first loves, heart breaks and lasting relationships. The maturity of the author words are extraordinary and will keeping you capitivated. (Atlantagirl, Amazon Reviewer)

I started reading this and couldn't stop. I finished after two nights. This book is broken up into three sections. Love Rising, In the Dark, The Light. My favorite being the first section which speaks of the glory of falling in love. Michelle writes with such a passion, and she uses unique words that flow like music in every sentence adding to the beauty of each poem. This is my third book that I have from her Rises collection. I honestly thought while reading this book that I want to keep it in my back pocket all day so I can check out a cool poem when I want some inspiration. Thank You Michell for this work!
