4.0 out of 5 stars Good
By Srijoni Nandy on 23 June 2021
"The Folk doubtlessly learned this lesson long ago. They do not need to deceive humans. Humans will deceive themselves."

I so wanted to like this book. I didn't really enjoy the first part, that is, The Cruel Prince, but was hoping the second part would change my opinion.

Well, it did, to some extent.

I still don't really like Jude Duarte. She doesn't seem real. I mean her emotions are all over the place. At times she's so strong and has so much self control, and the next she's as weak as anyone might expect a mortal girl in Faerie to be. Her ideals and values, everything was so contradictory, I found it very difficult to root for her. And if you don't like the protagonist, it becomes difficult to keep reading. 😅

Buttttt.... I really loved the whole scheming and strategy making and the cliffhanger at the end of Book 1. So even though I didn't like Jude, I think there's still some hope. Book 2 really brought me around.

Here's hoping that Queen of Nothing will be as grand a finale as I expect it to be.😋

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Good
By Autumn Melody on 28 March 2019
This book was far better than the first book which I binge-read on my day-off, loved it, then forgot about two days later when I started reading this book. The enemies to lovers trope is so strong in this one. LOVE ITTT! This one was better because there were a lot of character interactions for Jude, and every time Cardan spoke it was just pure gold :D

Jude was such mundane character but I related to her on an emotional level. How deeply she felt all her mistakes and how every time something went wrong, she didn't blame others for being cruel to her, but herself for not being strong enough. Perfectionist much?

Looking forward to the last book next year :)
