The 3 year old I bought this for loves these stories. We've read them until the stories dance in my head and I feel like I can't take another Pooh. The stories are lovely and have a moral, mostly of kindness and friendships. They are a little advanced for most 3 year olds though, so keep in mind that these are really meant for older children. The stories are a little long
I was very impressed with this high quality and beautiful book. The pictures are colorful and all of my favorite Pooh characters are there in their Disney interpretation that brings me back to my own childhood. Now I can share them with my grandchildren. I bought this book as a Christmas present for them. This is not a book for children to play with. This is the kind of book that parents or grandparents read to children and show them the pictures. The pages would not stand up to rough treatment. I highly recommend it as a book to share with children and create memories of quiet reading time. The pages are edged in silver and the book looks expensive. I wouldn't want to hide it in a bookshelf. It's so pretty, I would display in ON a bookshelf or use it as part of a nursery decor. Great value. I highly recommend this book.

Although my child is into all things Pooh lately, I never seen her happier with any other Pooh purchases.
Pros: Albeit subtle, the whole book has almost classic collector item like feel to it. The hardcover's background illustration is matte. It's paired with characters done in gloss finish. The type on the cover is embossed in red metallic foil...tasteful and understated. The pages are treated with silver leaf edging. The book is generous with full colored illustrations.
Thankfully, both text and illustrations are done without "modern" interpretations.. Words are easy to read and understand without many idioms.
My daughter who's not really patient with me reading, was grinning ear to ear when I read the first story in about fifteen minutes which is 20 pages long. Afterwards, She read to herself and looked and paged through the entire book. Everyone of 300 page (pages with actual "stories") has an illustration or two. Me and my child couldn't be happier with this book purchase. Okay, that's enough gushing...
Con: The pages are little on the thin side (like thick magazine page), so I would be careful around really young children. THAT'S IT for cons... At this price, the book gets well deserved five stars rating from me. It's great addition for Pooh fans young and "young at heart" alike.
UPDATE: 11/02 By, now we read the whole book twice over, yet it's still her favorite and still asks for it EVERY NIGHT.... Our copy is now dog eared and shows wear because of its' "extensive" use... I still stand by my five star. It's one of the best purchase I made this year.
I bought this for my 3-yr-old niece who loves all things Winnie the Pooh. She absolutely loves paging through this book. This book has a padded cover with silver gilded pages, but has large, colorful, and vibrant images of all the Pooh friends characters throughout the book. Even if for the artwork alone, this book is an amazing investment. The illustrations are more consistent with the more recent cartoon sketches rather than the original artwork, which she loves because it is what she recognizes. These are great stories with good life lessons that I would recommend for preschooler age on up (and any adults that are avid Pooh fans). This book far exceeded my expectations and I am so glad I got it for my niece. She absolutely loves it!!
Bought this for my 3 year old son who showed interest in Winnie the Pooh. The very first time we sat to read it, we went thru 3! stories, no problem. Real easy read, lots of nice colorful pictures, and easy for a kid to follow. Nice heavy paper, with silver trip on top. I am thinking of getting 2 more of these for giving as gifts to my friends children at Christmas time. Money well spent!!
The book is appropriate for young toddlers who don't have the patience to sit through an entire story. My 20 mo old loves this book as a bed time story and asks for it. She even sits still until an entire story is done. There is enough illustrations to keep her interest, and she has begun to relate to the book in her activities during the day. It is a classic worth buying, written for young children. The pages are somewhat thin though, so parent supervision is necessary if you want the book to last a while.
Whoever did the layout and editing was a genius.. The text for different character dialogue changes font type, size and flow according to who is speaking and what is happening. The gold gilded, thick pages and beautifull traditonal 80s/90s Winnie art are simply amazing. This is one of those very rare, well made books with proper thought put into the design. Adults will love reading this book more than children will!
