Review

Delightful! Winter's Orbit is a chilling account of a dark past wrapped in the warm blanket of a promising future. It was such a pleasure to read

A captivating love story with engaging characters, wrapped around a murder mystery with high-stakes multi-world politics. Winter's Orbit reminds me in the best way of the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold. I can't wait to see what Maxwell does next!

Everina Maxwell's writing has everything you could ask . . . I don't know how she's managed to write a book that's simultaneously an elegant comedy of manners, a charming slow-burn romance, and an adventure in space politics, but whatever her secret, I'm wildly envious

A dazzling and comforting story of galactic politics, healing and romance. Its characters stayed with me long after I raced through the last chapters

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written
By Autumn Melody on 27 April 2021
This is a SciFi with a side of romance (emphasis on the SciFi). Romance is there and it's very well developed but it's not the focus of the story.

That said, this was a thoroughly enjoyable book. All the characters (including the important side characters are well written). The main duo is amazing. They all work to their strengths.

There's a bunch if politics in this. This is the main theme. The planets are trying to renew their treaty and chaos ensues when they're all rejected. The main duo tries to find a solution to that, and falls in love on the way 😏 while uncovering a nefarious scheme!

Cute and definitely worth a read. The world building is good and sets up for further books in the same universe.
