Review

“Her children are so serious… and so unflappable… that they convey not just hope for the future, but a sense of manifest destiny.” — Publishers Weekly starred review

“Sweet but not saccharine and singsong but not forced, Martin's text is one that will invite rereadings as it affirms parental wishes for children while admirably keeping child readers at its heart.”
Kirkus starred review --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Dull Lifeless Picture Book Written For Adults To Tell Little Ones What They Are Expected To Be!

That thoughtful gift for a friends child a christmas present, wanting something a bit special i was happy to pay a bit more after reading that this book was a New York best seller and all the other great reveiws i thought i had the perfect gift to give.
I couldn't of been more wrong, this book isn't for the child its written for adults to enjoy and its their vision not the childs id even go as far to say its child unfriendly theres not one child through out the book that has a smile on their face even the pictures inside are so dated and pages so thin how this book got to be a New York best seller is laughable. There is no story to this book for children its a question book the clue is in the book title The Wonderful Things You Will Be .

Emily Winfield Martin makes paintings, books and other things. When she was small, she spent every moment drawing, reading, dressing rabbits in fancy clothes, and having many peculiar daydreams. When she grew up, she began to illustrate those daydreams and she created a cottage industry called The Black Apple, which sells all manner of her art and etceteras.

She works in a tiny nook of a studio filled with old children's books, wind-up toys, and stacks of fabric. She lives in Portland, Or.
